Having the FBI raid your home is never a good thing, but for Donald Trump it may prove a blessing in disguise.

Mr Trump hasn't seen such an outpouring of support from senior Republicans in a long time, and the incident looked set to light a new political touch paper that could propel him to the party's presidential nomination in 2024.

The former US President is now, in the eyes of many Republicans who were shying away from him, the victim of an egregious attempt by a Democrat administration to politicise the justice system.

As one former Republican official put it, if Mr Trump is not now convicted of a crime, then "you've martyred him and guaranteed him the Republican nomination".

You should not count chickens prior to the eggs hatching. Some could just be omelets.

Many "senior" Republicans are also idiots and creeps. You Knox are only a mid-level Republican. There's hope for you.

Can it counter the pro-choice energy out there? Even Trump has expressed dismay that the Court decision was bad timing.

lots of "experts" have weighed in on the question of the supreme court decision on the next election. Best guess is "nobody knows"
On the one hand, those that are pro choice were likely going to vote democrat anyway..same for pro life republican. There likely will be some one issue republican women who cross over and vote democrat just on this issue.
But same applies to inflation and economy...some dems will cross over to republican.
Key thing these days is simply that there are so few districts that are really in play. So many are now safe dem or safe republican that issues really don't seem to matter much anymore..
The mar a lago raid plays the same way. Doubtful that many democrats will be outraged that Trump was raided. Most dems, or at least a lot of them, wonder why trump isn't in jail already. Similarly, likely an equal number feel the same about hillary

Gonna be interesting to see how it all plays out. Overturning Roe will be about fund raising, allowing that side to spend like crazy. It will also key turnout for women.....some of whom wouldn’t want to vote for a 🤡 with all the issues we have but would have refused to vote for Trump come hell or high water. Now many will vote because of Roe.

These FBI raids will have similar affect. A lot of Rs don’t like Trump and wouldn’t have voted for him if he were the nominee. But now they just might be so angry about the continuing abuse of power that they feel they must vote for whomever is the R nominee even if it is Trump.

2024 is a long way off and a lot will happen before we get there. As for this fall, both sides are now angry and motivated. May be the largest midterm turnout ever, That alone makes it hard to predict.

It is wrong to think that the FBI is only corrupt at the top. It is corrupt top to bottom. I doubt if FBI recruiters would hire anybody very far to the left of Nancy Pelosi. There are in fact the law enforcement arm and gestapo of the Democratic Party.
