I’m sure this felt pretty good for Mick to just chill and enjoy a beer with no one crowding him.

Mick Jagger grabs a beer at a dive bar the night before The Rolling Stones play in Charlotte.

"When you are one of the most famous men in the world and no one recognizes you"

I'm 72 yrs old and there for the great invasion of the English Rock Groups. It was fun, and for the gals at the time he was one of the best recognized, along with many others.
If I sat next to him today in a pub or outside in the court yard, he'd look familiar to me and I'd
ask the guy his name, have a drink with him and leave him be. I'm not 14 yrs old any more and learned a long time ago that celebrities have no use for me in their world and I likewise have little use for them.

Bar is obviously owned by someone that doesn't gaf. Kudos.

Correct. The builder of the apartments tried to buy him out, and he said “no way”. So they built around him. Classic.
Heard a story of a similar thing in AC when the Casinos came to town... woman owned a house and they were trying to build on the property - she refused to move, and they realized she did not own the space above her house. So they built over her house. I think eventually she passed away and they probably demolished the house.

Mick Jagger always had a penchant for "hanging out" going back to his early days in the mid-70s. In 1975 he stayed at Andy Warhol's beach compound in Montauk known then as simply the "cottages". Montauk in those days, even though it is technically a village within the Town of East Hampton, was a sleepy spot known mostly to fishermen. I was one of those addicted surf fishermen and in 1972 had bought a spot on the ocean in the old Ditch Plains camp grounds which had just been converted to a mobile home park. One of my favorite surf spots was in front of the Cottages, a spot I could walk to from my Ditch Plains home, though I never saw or met any of the Stones. Below is an article from earlier this year on The Stones and Montauk during their mid-70s years.

Robert Plant used to live in Austin TX full time, still spends a lot of his time there. I worked with a software company located there for five years. It was well known that Plant would go to a specific pub in the mornings to watch a Premier League team with friends. The CIO of the company was a big music guy and went with a friend who was ~ 30. The 30 something kid was at the bar getting coffee and struck a conversation with this old dude. When he gets back to his seat the CIO says "man, what was that like?" Kid is like "wut?"

"Robert Plant...what was that like?" "Wut? Robert who?"

"Robert Plant...the musician!" "Wut? Its Austin, who can make from what musician to another?"

"Robert Plant...Led Zeppelin....Stairway to Heaven...In My Time of Dying...whole lotta love.....!!!" Oh, is that who that dude was?"

Have you done DMT with Joe Organ?

Where did he go? I know he is a huge Wolves fan.
My favorite Robert Plant in Austin pic:

Reviews from my friends are all glowing. They said even at 78, Mick and the boys put on an incredible show.

Some more to the OP story.

Heard on the radio yesterday that the owner of the bar verified that one of the couples off to the side in this picture had front row seats to the Stones show that Mick was in town for.

Went back to check receipts, alas, no signature. Mick either paid cash or somebody else's name was on the card.

Yep. And I hear the young female bartender didn’t know who he was either.

And of course he picked a bar called ‘TheThirsty Beaver’!

Never understood why people think they have the right to bother celebrities when they’re on the street, in restaurants, bars, etc. I have no problem with people asking them for pictures and autographs at shows, publicity events, etc. But show just a trace of basic human decency and leave them alone when they’re eating, shopping, etc. I always roll my eyes when you see those internet whiners complaining that celebrity X was rude to me when I asked for a selfie while they were at a restaurant with their family. What gives you the right to interfere with their private life?

Several years ago I just happened to end up sitting across the aisle from Denzel Washington at the BIC for the PSU-Penn basketball game. He was in the area filming that runaway train movie and his son was a player on the Penn team. While he got a lot of looks, I was glad that only a couple of people approached him, and they waited until halftime. For me, I got a kick out of watching him just be a parent and a fan, heckling the refs, cracking jokes about the Penn coach, etc.

While I might envy their bank accounts, I sympathize with what they have to put up with from the press and public.

Unstoppable. Many scenes filmed in Emporium!

I was at Smith & Wollensky in Philly (back in 08 or 09) one night having a few drinks and Bruce Willis was there having dinner with some friends. The Phillies were in the playoffs and he would come out to the bar every so often and order a drink and get updates on the game. He would make some small talk with the people at the bar and go back to his table. Nobody bothered him at all. It was pretty damn cool. I had dinner one night in San Francisco a few tables away from Heather Graham. My wife (girlfriend at the time) wouldn’t quit staring at her. Had to tell her to chill out. 😂
