new stadium. Some observations.

Beautiful new facility - especially for the $128 million price tag. Clearly there is not the attendance or energy of the big time schools - only seats 40,000 - but they do have a great intimate layout. Even though there were only about 25,000 people - it was a good atmosphere. It did not help that the Texans and Astros were both playing last night. Good mix of regular seats and higher end seating. Really liked their outdoor seating area with just a table and tv. This was located right behind the lower section. Lots of room behind the stands for concession areas, restrooms, etc. They actively sell beer during the games. Stadium held noise well.

UH and PSU run the same offense. Night and day difference. The one thing that makes UH effective was their QB could run or throw. G. Ward is only 5'11", but was 16-18 for 243 yards passing and also rushed for 82 yards and 4 TDs. He was right on target all night. Most of the time, the ball was gone way before the receiver even broke off his route. Impressive. UH defense has a long way to go. SMU moved the ball at ease - but turnovers killed them.

The locals are already worried that Hermann will be gone (to Texas) within the next year or two. Has to be tough to be a second tier football programs who are trying like hell to get to the first tier. UH continues to be a training ground for coaches (Texas A&M, Baylor).

Sooner- take the three hour drive up HWY 6 and see a game at Baylor's new stadium. It is unbelievable! We played a high school game at TDECU stadium in August and I agree that they did a nice job on it but it is nothing like Baylor's McClane Stadium. TDECU's seating and sight lines are less than good and the amenities and locker rooms are institutional. McClane's design, locker rooms, video board, and sound system are incredible and a step up from anything that I've seen outside of A&M. I love Beaver Stadium but an 85,000 seat version of McClane would be a sight to behold.
