OT: USA COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

0.647M shots yesterday so total up to 319.2M with the 7 day rolling average at 1.05M. 84% of shots administered is the national average, 53.5% of population with 1+ dose (68.9% of the adult population), 45.3% of population fully vaccinated.

So far, 178 million Americans have received at least one dose of a vaccine. At least 150 million people have completed a vaccination regimen.

12,942 positives reported yesterday compared to 14,258 week over week. 7-day rolling average is at 11,886.

Fatality was 326 compared to 352 yesterday and 433 week over week, 7-day rolling fatality at 301.

Hospitalizations reported 7 day rolling average is 12,402 compared to one week ago 14,148 down 12.3%.

Hospital admissions reported 7 day rolling average is 1,823 compared to one week ago 2,047 down 10.9%.
A total of 178 million with the vaccine, 33.5 million known to have had the virus probably at least 50 million really have had it, probably 25 million with natural immunity. We have to be close to herd immunity no matter what variant is out there.

CDC estimates over 100 million have had covid

The vaccines are 95% effective after both shots. So if 150 million are fully vaccinated then that means that 7.5 million could still get it should they be exposed. Cut that in half for people that already had it and have natural antibodies. That’s still a lot of cases possible.

I don't think that's what 95% effective means though. I'm not positive but I think if you take a state that has a daily positivity rate of 2,000 people, if everyone was vaccinated, that rate would be reduced by 95%, leading to a positivity rate of 100 people.

Everyone vaccinated is a goner due to variants. No hope.

Sit under your bed and wait for the reaper. Many, many people are doing just that. Masks, double masks and dirty looks.

Why care anymore? This is an untenable situation. Existing is preferable to living.

1.46M shots yesterday so total up to 320.7M with the 7 day rolling average at 0.82M. 84.6% of shots administered is the national average, 53.7% of population with 1+ dose (69.2% of the adult population), 45.6% of population fully vaccinated.

So far, 178 million Americans have received at least one dose of a vaccine. At least 151 million people have completed a vaccination regimen.

13,365 positives reported yesterday compared to 13,725 week over week. 7-day rolling average is at 12,103.

Fatality was 329 compared to 326 yesterday and 371 week over week, 7-day rolling fatality at 298.

Are they trying to convince people getting vaccinated isn't needed?
The business dilemma is starting to come into play. Plenty of evidence suggests if you had Covid you now have ample natural defense against it with anti bodies so you should be able to gain access to anything the same as vaccinated folks are able to get ( tickets in the pit at various concerts for instance or ultimately flying. I can get into Belize with my vax card and don’t need to do a test ) but the market will only accept one form of proof. Vaccinations. People will figure it out regardless of what the messaging is.

Associated Press article from this morning. Putting aside how anyone might feel about getting the vaccine, the data is overwhelming that it works at preventing illness and death from COVID. In May, nearly all COVID infections and deaths were among people who had not been vaccinated:

853,000 people contracted COVID
  • 1200 had been vaccinated (.01% or 1 in every 710 people)
  • 851,800 had not been vaccinated (99.99% or 709 out of 710 people)
18,000 people died from COVID
  • 150 had been vaccinated (0.8% or 1 in every 120 people)
  • 17,850 had not been vaccinated (99.2% or 119 out of 120 people)

interesting potential data on the daily positives which are basically flat the last 4 days. First time we have had flat line on the daily positives since the April spike.

this is the type of data that the admin/CDC should be putting out but completely keep out the political talk and the message should not be a brow beating type of message. The politics and tone of the message is what are making people dig in their heels.

Get a new doctor in the lead to talk about this. One that has a nice credential not assoicated with the NIH and has a clean record. Have that person go over the data so far like a normal doctor does when you are sitting in the exam room. Go over the risks of the vaccine and data on so far what the risks are (you could show that this vaccine has been out there for a year now and that 150M+ people have taken it so far to show that it appears to be safe on the data). Then go over the data above and talk about risks of Covid. And then an honest conversation about people who have been infected already with Covid and natural anti-bodies.

I'm not sure businesses can legally ask for medical information. Even during the mask mandates they were legally required to let you in if you simply stated you had a medical exception. They weren't allowed to follow up or verify. Same with the current no mask if vaccinated. It's all on the honor system.

BTW, lots of people are not getting vaccinated, especially in the minority communities, I'm not sure how you can say people figure it out regardless of the messaging.

CDC practices “righteousness porn.”

Israel, with a 80% vaccination rate, to reinstate indoor mask mandate next week as COVID-19 cases keep rising

Someone's a pretty happy camper.

Yes, lots of folks in minority communities are not getting vaccinated, same for rural ( Wyoming and the farming communities in Missouri currently getting covered in the media ) and maybe they don’t have concerns as to whether being vaccinated or not gives them additional access to places. Let’s take Temple University for instance. Returning students have to upload their vaccine information into the patient health portal. There is a different set of rules for those vaccinated versus non vaccinated. Those returning students that want complete freedom and are yet to be vaccinated will figure it out.

I certainly acknowledge not every life is the same and some folks may chose not to get vaccinated for a range of reasons. If however in their daily course of business and functioning they find a need to make a choice, many I believe will choose to get vaccinated. Some by doing so will hopefully encourage others to get vaccinated in their communities as well.

From the article:

"While a majority of adults in Israel have been vaccinated and the country has one of the highest inoculation rates in the world, Ash said the numbers were still far from the 80% figure he said would mark herd immunity."
Yeah. 61% with at least one dose and 56.9% fully vaccinated

Yeah. 61% with at least one dose and 56.9% fully vaccinated
Jonus Bros are filming a music video in CLE to be shown for the 4th of July. Attendance is invitation only; its free but you have to apply. They want a ton of screaming teen agers. When you apply, you have to upload an image of your vax certification despite the fact that a the CDC told people they might want to hold off vaxxing teenagers and b the govt has totally given up any vax enforcement here in Ohio. There aren't a lot of teenagers vaxxed in Ohio.

The real numbers are in the details of the story you linked. Not that the title isn't wrong, but it doesn't paint the complete picture as you must count children in the Herd Immunity percentage (they are part of the herd)

1. Prior, "scientists" estimated a country would need between 70-85% of its residents (adults and children) fully vaccinated to reach herd immunity
2. 60% of Israeli citizens (adults and children) got vaccinations (at least 10 points below the threshold)
3. 80% of Israeli adults got vaccinations (not approved for those under 16 years old)
3. It is estimated that 70% of Israeli citizens (adults and children) are either vaccinated or have natural infection to Covid)
4. Dr. Eyal Zimlichman (Israels largest hospital deputy) announced that they have reached herd immunity to Covid ("We've obviously reached herd immunity")

So, adult vaccinations are only one of the variables in the "herd immunity" equation. The herd immunity total percentage in Israel is the LOW END of the original estimation, and Israel got there with no children's vaccinations (but also because they count Covid infections in that number).

Good for them

Yep. Tried to sign my 16 year old daughter up for a private Jonas brothers event here in CLE but she couldn’t get in without a card despite the WHO recommending teens hold off last week. Crazy
