I do wonder where Covid is going and I think even the smartest legit medical minds out there have no clue right now as the mutation of Covid is something never seen in it's speed, ability to escape immunity from previous infection, and transmission rates.
I feel like we are going to continue along this pathway for another 18-24 months until essentially everybody has had covid multiple times and the human immune system has seen covid so often that it can adapt faster then covid can. but i think for that to happen is going to take many more rounds of new omicron variants every 3-6 months that have huge infection rates such that natural immunity continues to increase in the population.
So my wife said she saw an article from the NYT last week affirming the virus came from nature not a lab doctored virus. Has anyone else seen that and if so what do you think?
So we have a virus that according to Dr Redfield he had never seen a virus adapt to humans as quickly as this one did, and now as you say you have never seen one mutate and escape immunity as fast as this one has. How the heck can it be natural?.

my opinion, only made stronger this past 6 months is that this was a lab leak from Wuhan where Gain of Function research was occurring. I do not think it was unleashed intentionally by the Chinese govt. but was a true 'accident'. That accident might be akin to a driver getting into an accident while speeding in that the Wuhan lab did not have the necessary safeguards in place with the level of crazy stuff they were doing such that the accident was due to lack of proper controls and procedures which was more malpractice then intentional.
When I went to the gym today the lady that I saw swimming with a mask on was back at it in the pool. Only person in her lane as well. Don’t ask me how she is able to do it but she was.

So good news is that the new hospital admission data has leveled off. So the constant slope up appears to now stopped increasing. So this latest BA4/5 peak seems to have apexed last week and is now starting to move back down ever so slightly. The length of the peak was about 3.5 months in length. So longer than previous peaks but the ultimate peak was only at 6500 admissions per day (opposed to 17k, 13k, and 22K in previous peaks).
The fatality data show that we were in the 300 per day range and peaked in the 400 per day range during this spike so obviously this variant has been much less fatal then previous variants which had spikes of 3500, 1900, and 2700 respectively.

I had an interesting discussion the other day regarding this strain. the person I was talking too said the low level of hospital and death was because so many people were vaxxed and boosted. i suggested it was likely just a milder strain as happens as viruses mutate., I then said as many people who have been vaxxed are dying as those unvaccinated and she looked at me like "uh oh one of those guys"
since we are casual friends and wanted to stay so we switched topics. I was referring to actual numbers not rate of death per 1,000 so maybe she was thinking maybe rate. At any rate when I came home I couldn't find any hard data to support my position. Was I wrong? I also thought maybe I had heard Birx say that in her testimony but never went back and relistened. Is there any quick data I could look at?

I am not sure if that specific data is is out there in easily readable format. but if you look at the deaths since the beginning of March this year (see link below) it shows that the 90%+ of the deaths are in the 65+ age group. 95% of that group has at least one dose and 92% are fully vaccinated. So that basically says that almost that entire group is vaxxed so the people dying almost have to be vaccinated.

Milder strain, having antibodies, taking better care of themselves, or just being the summer and getting more vitamin D, all of those could be reasons that it’s not as severe. But as Cletus said above the only people who are getting severe cases and going to the hospital are those who are multiple times vaxed and in the upper age group. To be honest the only people that I know that are getting it are people who have been boosted at least once and in a mask.

I had the J&J in March 2021 and December 2021 so i don't even know if I am considered vaxxed and boosted or just vaxxed or neither by the Pfizer/Moderna crowd. I got covid for the 1st time in mid June but was vitrually asymptomatic the entire time. The only reason I got tested was my wife got it at the same time with a nasty cough.
I credit my very mild/none symptoms to a daily regimen of Zinc and D-3 for the last 2 years [shout out to boulderfish and others early on] and a pretty heavy dose of outdoor activities. Since I quit going to the gym I swim or walk 5 days a week and golf another day. [70 years old, take BP medication and previous cancer survivor so pretty high on the "at risk" spectrum]
Good for you. I had original j&j shot in may 21 nothing else. No idea if I ever had Covid or not, never a need to test.
Anecdotally, everybody that I know that has gotten Covid in the past couple of months never had Covid before and this was their first time.
how would they know if they had covid if they didn't get tested? I guess if you had flu like symptoms you could assume it was covid but without testing no way to actually know.
I had an employee who's wife was sick for a week but it was last fall when people actually believed they couldn't' get covid when vaxxed(HAHAHAHAHA). Anyway he got sick a week later, same symptoms and he tested and was positive.
I went to a high school reunion last weekend and it looks like several of us, including me, got COVID. It has been a minor annoyance for me for a couple of days, but I feel bad for those who have elderly family members who they may have inadvertently exposed.
The weird thing is that only guys are testing positive for COVID. So far, no women have had a positive test, even though we were all at the same events.

weird...all three people I know who got it were men. they said their wives never got it even though they were obviously living together.

Are you suggesting that the fear porn merchants in the media and govt, that equate COVID to ratings, fame, and power are allowing covid deaths to be under counted? Call me skeptical on that one.
The current democrat administration cannot withstand any more failures, it's all they do. The MSM is working overtime to provide cover and even the MSM knows they have to walk a fine line as their credibility is shot. So the answer may be to stop updating info that is not good.
Throwing COVID patients in nursing homes certainly didn't help.
The chart only goes to 2019 so covid isn't part of the equation.
Democrats know Covid is losing platform so you really don't hear them talking that much anymore about Covid. There were some trial balloons thrown out there by the press in the heart of the latest BA4/5 wave but they didn't go anywhere and if anything, backlash against anymore lockdowns. So i don't expect that to be brought up anymore especially since this wave seems to be on teh downward trend now.

I asked a person who was wearing a mask outside at the beach today, if they had been sick recently and were trying to be thoughtful to those around them. They said ‘no, I don’t want to get monkey pox’.

Interesting. My take is they think lockdowns and fear porn helps their case as managers of a crisis. NPS has instituted masking requirements at indoor facilities. There are rumblings elsewhere ...but perhaps their echo chamber bubble has been burst and they believe everyone except their anxiety-riddled base see them as charlatans...we can only hope.
