OT: USA COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

LOL.... is that like orders of magnitude more dangerous?

That's the spirit. Go check out this guy's ^^^ responses from earlier in the thread on this exact same topic, and you'll find every relevant piece of data you need. It's like deja vu reading some of these really deceptive and flat out wrong responses. Maybe some of you can even explain how an average can be greater than largest number in its subset of data like he asserted.

Well, I think this issue is settled here:

Covid or Flu - which is worse for the young?

Covid under 18 YO for almost two full years: 499 Deaths.
Influenza for each year Under 18 YO: 2017 - 526, 2018 - 372, 2019 - 486.

So, the answer is pretty clear - Influenza is somewhat worse (about 2x) than Covid for the young.

Hey, look, 91JoeorderSofmagnitudeexaggerator95 chimes in with more BS.

Hah, don't blame me because you couldn't be bothered to read the links that you posted. The good news is you seem to have learned from that mistake, so I guess you learned something.

Another expected deflection. I hope you learned to not recklessly make exaggerated statements..... I doubt it though.

1.15M shots yesterday so total up to 401.9M with the 7 day rolling average at 1.02M.

So far, 216.8 million Americans have received at least one dose of a vaccine. At least 187.2 million people have completed a vaccination regimen. At least 7.7M have received a booster dose.

Population over 12 years of age with at least one dose = 76.4%; Fully vaccinated = 66.0%; Booster = 4.4%

Population over 18 years of age with at least one dose = 78.2%; Fully vaccinated = 67.8%; Booster = 7.0%

Population over 65 years of age with at least one dose = 95.0%; Fully vaccinated = 84.0%; Booster = 10.9%

50,466 positives reported yesterday compared to 76,374 week over week. 7-day rolling average is 86,474

1.3M shots yesterday so total up to 403.5M with the 7 day rolling average at 1.07M.

So far, 217.4 million Americans have received at least one dose of a vaccine. At least 187.7 million people have completed a vaccination regimen. At least 8.5M have received a booster dose.

Total Population with at least one dose = 65.5%; Fully vaccinated = 56.5%; Booster = 4.6%

Hospital admissions reported 7 day rolling average is 6,789 compared yesterday 7-day average of 6,659 compared to one week ago 7,562 DOWN 10.2%.

Daily positives really on the downslope now, just a couple of states left that are still rising, the main ones being Minnesota and Colorado which looking at the chart has to be peaking very shortly based on history (and Montana and Idaho are peaking now but their raw numbers are still low on a peak comparatively) . States like PA, NY, Wisconsin, Arizona are still at the same plateau and hopefully start moving down shortly.

It'll be interesting to see the fall out from this since most PSU employees and staff are not federal contractors

was at PSU yesterday for a college tour. Literally saw more masks in State College downtown and on campus than any other place I have been to in the past 6 months. It felt like I had time warped back to 2020. It was surreal.

State College borough is still stuck in 2020 with their covid restrictions

I am a little confused, do all of PSU employees have to get vaccinated or just the federal employees. And if only the federal employees, what percent of the total employees are federal employees?

A lot of companies and organizations with federal contracts are conveniently overinterpreting the executive order to use as cover for a blanket vaccine mandate. Airlines are also doing it.

My guess is PSU is liberally interpreting the definition of a "contractor workplace" to be the entire campus.

A “covered contractor workplace” is defined as any “location controlled by a covered contractor at which any employee of a covered contractor working on or in connection with a covered contract is likely to be present” (which includes all buildings, sites (including outdoor sites) or facilities to which a covered contractor employee has access),2 while the phrase “in connection with” is broadly defined as any “duties necessary to the performance of [a] covered contract . . . such as human resources, billing, and legal review . . . .” Accordingly, any employee who is a direct or indirect charge on a covered contract, regardless of work location, and any employees who work at the contractor’s workplace (even if they do not directly or indirectly support a covered contract) will be subject to the Guidance mandates.

“UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In compliance with President Joe Biden’s Sept. 9 executive order requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all federal employees, contractors and others, Penn State has determined that all University Park faculty and staff, regardless of whether or not they work on federal contracts, must submit proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Dec. 8.”

so you think all PSU employees. that is what I interpret also. so once that occurs, i assume that all mask mandates will be removed and all classes taught 100% in person since everyone is vaccinated.

The question is will they ever release the "rule" because once they do it will be challenged in court and how quick a ruling will there be as we head into the holidays.

Nope, just means you have to mask harder and be on the lookout for boosters

big dosage #'s, seems like the booster accounts for half of those but still over 1M with originals.

I know here in MD vax #'s for teens have gone up a bunch in the last 2 weeks as most of the counties are not allowing kids to play sports without at least one dose. Due to this, some schools are saying they might not have basketball teams this winter as that demographic is still lagging way behind. After reading the info regarding myocarditis and the increase after dose 2, cant blame them.

Some of the stuff Penn State is doing is perplexing.

I have a friend that works at Penn State that just had work related travel cancelled because of the state he was going to travel to. So called risk mitigation.

However, one of his peers just came back from a 10 day trip to the same state and did not have to quarantine before coming to work.

Additionally, the person that had his trip canceled, happens to work football games where he has been around people from probably all around the country.

Thank goodness they are looking out for his health by decreasing the risk he would encounter over a 2.5 day business trip. 🙄

vaccine numbers are going up no doubt due to boosters, but the numbers also have been a little sketchy lately on a day over day basis so sometimes I think that just like the daily positives, that there is much more up and down based on reporting timing in the vaccines now versus last January-May.

And when you look at the first time vaccinations, they are still averaging about 300K+ per day which equates to 0.1% of the population, been pretty steady at that number for months now which is a good thing (if you think the vaccine is the right way to go). We are going to reach 80% with one dose and 70% fully vaccinated here in the next few weeks which ultimately was a goal when this whole vaccine endeavor started. And when you look at over 65% with 95% with at least one dose.

So the fear porn is not dead yet. During the Eagles game last night during commercials was flipping around the new channels. MSNBC has Rachel Maddow talking about how the Covid crisis is not over and hospitals are still being over run. That until we get the ENTIRE WORLD VACCINATED this pandemic will not end. And that the drug companies, specifically Moderna for some reason, are not producing enough vaccines and need to do better. Then an ex-bureaucrat from the FDA comes on and talks about how Moderna needs to do more and open manufacturing facility in Africa and give away the vaccine for free basically. It was just shocking to hear the whole thing (Obvious attempt to deflect news from the supply chain/scarcity of good and hyperinflation issue).

Is it fear porn if it doesn’t scare me? This is the first law of news. Good news isn’t news. It doesn’t sell. If you want to stay in the news business on TV or the internet, you have to show provocative material. CNN, MSNBC, and FOX do pretty much nothing else. If you want actual news with some depth or Investigation, read a newspaper like the Inquirer or watch NEWSY. Complaining about a facet of the news that has been an integral part of news for decades isn’t worth your time.
