"In recognition of Penn State University's long-standing agricultural tradition, Saturday October 11th has been designated as Pennsylvania Agriculture Appreciation Day at Beaver Stadium.

All members of the PA agricultural community will be entitled to 4 tickets to Saturday's match up between the 4-1 Penn State Nittany Lions and the high-powered Indiana Hoosiers (Kickoff at 12 Noon on ESPN2).

All Penn Staters are encouraged to donate tickets to support this effort. Tickets for donation may be purchased at the reduced rate of $40 per ticket by calling 1-800-NITTANY. Donated tickets will be distributed through the Pennsylvania Grange and the Pennsylvania Dairy Association.

Among the Agricultural related activities planned for the weekend:

PSU Agricultural Society Trustees Donald Cotner, Keith Eckel, Abraham Harpster, Chris Hoffman, Betsy Huber, and Keith Masser will spread ceremonial fertilizer at midfield immediately before the start of the game.
Mr Masser will also participate in the pre-game coin toss.

Last week's contest with Army - Military Appreciation Day - resulted in a sell-out of Beaver Stadium. Penn Staters donated over 3,000 tickets to Military personnel, along with 12,000 tickets donated by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. The military personnel not in attendance led to an announced crowd of 107,387, of which, upwards of 70,000 may have actually attended the game."

No word yet on which of the 37 AADs will be responsible for tweeting out the "Sell out crowd for PSU/IU matchup" tweet.

Didn't those a-holes already spread fertilizer all over the place?

Is this what the program has become at the hands of the bot, reduced to giving away huge numbers of tickets every week while begging people to cover the costs of them? I guess the only real question is when they reduce the size of the stadium with their 'updating' renovation, how many decades back do they set the program's attendance?

Seems like the Great Gatsby approach to running a football related circus. This BOT is surely deemphasizing the football program... What a joke.

They want us to buy tickets for farmers now? C'mon. How about just selling the public tickets for $40 instead of trying to sell them for $90?

And can't wait to boo skeletor during the coin toss. They are so tone deaf. Don't they realize that nobody likes him?

I was really hoping this was an Onion-esque post...

Haha, well this is actually believable that they would pull this. I'm still not sure you're kidding.

This has to be a joke. I won't believe it without proof, e.g., a link. However, kudos for your imagination!

Do I get in free if I bring I own manure to fling at them??

Actually.....not quite.

"In accordance with Beaver Stadium safety regulations, no external manure containers will be allowed through the entry gates. However, in an effort to maximize auxiliary revenue streams, ICA will make 1 pound bags of pig manure (in clear 12X12 plastic pouches) available for purchase - $7.50 per bag - at all Beaver Stadium concession stands."

Do really good amateur gardeners qualify?

In recognition of Agriculture Appreciation Day, the Penn State Athletic Department has called for the second "blue-out" of the season. Everyone attending the game is encouraged to wear blue bib overalls.
