Trump wants to have 'Operation Wetback II'

The 'immigration' plan from the '50s under Eisenhower that Trump was lauding at the debate was known as Operation Wetback. I wonder why he didn't refer to it by it's name? The program was a joint US - Mexico plan that ran for about 8 years.
The original Operation Wetback is generally considered an abject failure. The operation was fraught with problems that included harsh and unjust treatment of people. It came to an end under pressure from farmers and others that demanded cheap labor. The Mexican government wanted that cheap labor as well - they lost the battle.

Trump was on O'Reilly last night and when asked if he knew the name he said he did but refused to use it because it was a derogatory name. Would help if you knew your facts instead of making racial accusations....oh ...wait...your a liberal, you can't help yourself.

They discussed how poorly people were treated and agreed that it will not happen again. They also explained that the reason for the mass deportations was a lot of Mexicans had been allowed to enter during WWII because so many men were overseas we had a labor shortage and we needed the help.

Did you know that there was very limited immigration allowed from 1924 to 1968, other than WW II? We had had such a huge influx prior to then that the government stopped immigration to allow the immigrants here to assimilate.

If Trump thinks the plan was so damn good he should use its proper name. Trump is just a clown with no good ideas - just a lot of one-liners. Bumper sticker slogans pretending to be plans is a joke.
I think both Kasich and Bush summed up the plan well when they said it was both unrealistic and cruel. Defend this nonsense all you want. A bad idea and plan is bad whether it's from a conservative or a progressive. The plan failed once before and it would be a disaster if tried again.

Its not his plan's name, why should he use the name of a different plan from 60 yrs ago?

I am not defending his plan as I disagree with it. But to try force him to use a derogatory name for what he wants do to is total BS.

The right has a big problem. Their base loves Trumps immigration ideas but there's no way a general election candidate can run on that position and get enough of the Hispanic vote to actually be President.

If Trump wins the nomination he will be walking back this immigration talk as quickly as possible before the general election.

How about buffoon? Jackass? Dumb shit? They all fit DT. They are all descriptions of the candidate - not a silly name.

I am actually starting to like Trump for President. One term and hope he doesn't blow the world up. This country needs a reality check....perhaps he's the one. Didn't the book of revelations talk about the AntiChrist having a massive head wound? Maybe it just looks that way from on high?

Even George Will thinks Trump is crazy on this one. Will thinks the ideas from trump will destroy the GOP. I tend to agree even thogh I think the tea party faction has already done a pretty good job of that. D.W. Eisenhower would be ashamed of what his party has become. - with very good reason.

And JFK is rolling over in his grave by what the D party has become.....socialist, fascist, duplicitous, power-mad lunatics.

Now I see how you have earned your site name - oh master of the spin.

JFK was not even close to what modern Ds are. And my description is pretty accurate. They are socialist.....everything paid by government. Fascist.....Can't pass Congress just do Exec Order I-have-a-[en attitude. Duplicitous....'You-have-to-pass-the-bill-to-see-what-is-in-it.' and much worse. Power-mad.....look at how they react to anyone that disagrees with them......'We-need-some-muscle-over-here'

And if Carson wins, he will put them all to sleep.

How do they react when someone disagrees with them? They don't make a show out of bringing guns to public events.

The guys with guns were exercising their rights. They never stopped any one else from their rights like the jack booted thugs that occupy the D party. Don't dare say anything the disagree with for you will be destroyed.

You see that here on this very board with all the vitriol directed at Rs that dare speak their peace.
