Where did @Aardvark86 's redistricting thread go???

New York's highest court threw out the state's redistricting maps, dealing a massive blow to Democrats for the 2022 midterm election cycle.

The New York State Court of Appeals sided with lower courts in its determination that the three maps were unconstitutionally gerrymandered and ordered the adoption of a neutral plan to be crafted by a special master.

Was just about to post. Kudos to ny and other states courts that are actually being faithful to what their voters have directed. I have lower expectations for Florida. As to states that leave it to their legislatures, so be it and don’t whine about it if you come out on the short end (looking at you Dave wasserman)

this is a horrible outcome for d’s and ehoever came up with the idea of pushing commissions may well be first in line for a democratic firing squad.

with all that said, my most recent informal count is that this probably means a little north of 210 districts likely to lean r. And that’s just based on historic voting patterns and not current headwinds facing d’s. In other words rs need to win only a very few of the swing districts.
