Moorhead - may prefer coaching east of the Mississippi. A pay raise is a good incentive too.
Banks - Michigan native. Former DC at his alma mater of Central Michigan. Hard to turn down a P5 DC position and the $$$ which comes along with it.
Apparently Harbaugh and UM are trying to spend their way out of third place.

I’m sure Banks stealing four guys from Michigan in 2020 increased his appeal to Harbaugh
Hiring Banks as DC? What a huge reach, and honestly a huge drop off for them. Zero coordinator experience.
We’ll miss some of his recruiting in Michigan, but I wouldn’t mind some new eyes on that safety room.

How about don brown replacing banks? I believe brown and Franklin worked together at maryland.
If Banks is leaving Franklin should be on the phone to Abdul-Rahim immediately. Bring him in, give him a pay raise and make him an associate coach. Would go a long way toward taking us toward elite. Killer recruiter in Maryland.

Aazaar Abdul-Rahim is DB’s coach at Boston College, formerly DB’s coach at Maryland. Tremendous recruiter in the DMV area. He also coached at Friendship Collegiate Academy in D.C. for a decade, and was DC at UMass last year.
Played at Dunbar. Was at Maryland for a bit and brought in a ton of big Maryland recruits. Real up and comer in the profession. Has been BC’s best recruiter the last few years.
I had to google him, myself. Former HS coach in DMV, analyst and director of personnel for Bam, 247 named him in top 10 recruiters for 2018.

We need someone to counter Locksley's recruiting. Today MD signed a 5* LB recruit out of Florida.

That 5 star LB out of Florida had no where else to go. He decommitted from Tennessee in hopes of committing to Auburn, then Malzahn got fired. He then tried to go back to Tennessee and they said no thanks. It left Maryland and Miami and Miami would not accept his LOI. This kid has a lot of character issues and got kicked out of school. Locksley will take anyone with a pulse so that’s how he ended up at MD. If you watched the kids commitment today, he didn’t know why he committed to MD.
Why, because Zordich played at Penn State or because of his proven coaching and recruiting ability?
He was DC at Illinois.
That idiot Locksley will eventually coach himself out of the Maryland job, but the way he recruits he’ll leave a stocked roster for the next guy.
5 star football recruit with 1 star (or less) character. Very few committable offers for this kid, for a reason. Perfect fit for MD & Locksley.
On the radio show this morning, they said they hired him last week. BUT I have seen nothing saying they did.
I am unimpressed,. Jo Mo and i know I am in. the minority had a really strong cast of skill players. Trace, Geisicki, Godwin, and of course Saquan. He wasn't much of a recruiter as I recall and presumably they would fire Gattis who is a great recruiter.
So scUM - gets a better but not great OC, but loses a good recruiter in Gattis.
They get an in experienced DC who was an average safeties coach. He can probably lock down in state recruiting but hasn't shown much other recruiting sparkle.
As bad as Don Brown got I would give UM a small improvement on both sides but nowhere near what 2 new coordinators should get you.
PSU shouid/could see a nice step up. Surely a safeties coach at the equal level and likely a recruiter who can hit a more target rich area for us with Bank's success.
If being a former Penn State player is part of the draw, then it’s a homer choice. Think outside the box... reward achievement, not lineage.
One thing PSU and OSU fans can agree on: we both want Jim Harbaugh to coach UM as long as possible.

I guess Thornton made the right decision to de-commit from us to follow Morehead to Oregon
