The Pirates just traded 30 home runs a year for a relief pitcher.

Like I said on our board,

1) On paper, the Pirates won this trade. They traded a DH that wasn’t going to be part of their future for a reliever that might be.

2) This isn’t their typical “trade for cheap prospects” move. Holderman is a major league reliever that was acquired to make the team better now.

They make a lot of questionable decisions but, in my opinion, this isn’t one of them.
