The LEHIGH DUAL

Seems like a lot of enigma in this one. Both teams coming off some disappointing losses. Wrestlestat is often a good guide, but I feel like the algorithm is pretty off on the 29-7 prediction. Teske will have his hands full—as will whomever we send at 149 & 157. Even RBY might be pretty tight. Not predicting much bonus. 165 probably. Possibly heavy. Maybe for Lehigh at 184. Tough dual to get good KYPSW picks for, for sure.

Only thing I’m confident in is that there will be stalling complaints aplenty on this board.

Thought I'd share … after your last sentence.

For anyone in attendance, PSU Students will be there in good numbers, and will have "STALLING", and "TWO" hardback signs, just for the occasion.

Just printed my ticket. Not familiar with the area. Any recommendations for some chow and drinks prior to the dual?

Will be there. Hoping our lineup starts to get healthy.

I will be there too rooting for whatever lineup we put out there. Should be an interesting dual.

I will also be in Rec Hall next Saturday for Round 2 of December Madness (haven't missed one in over 20 years) when our ladies volleyball team takes on someone in order to reach the Sweet 16.

I like Teske over Pretzel he’s been wrestling tough and ready to notch a signature win, RBY over Farro though Farro wrestles conservatively which may make it close, Lee with a major, Gardner in a close one then Humphries big over Pipher, Joseph with a major, Hall with a decision that is never in doubt, Edsell close loss, Conel likely gasses again and has to fight off a MD and Cassar wins a decision. So 23-11 and with two starters sitting out and a potential redshirt pulled it could have been a whitewash if it were dueled in February

Using Intermat, 174 will be a 1 vs 2 showdown. But in previous battles, I don't recall Kutler's offense ever seriously challenging Mark.

Zero takedowns in three bouts for Kutler, the closest score being a 3-2 Hall win. Biggest margin was 4 points. Look for low scoring affair.

Kutler losing to Hall by 2 points is like another wrestler losing by 12 points to any random guy. It ain't close.

Any chance Berge goes? Would love to see him vs Humphreys.

Cassar by 6-9 over Jordan "mobile as a goalpost" Wood.

Hall’s defense of the second blast double by Valencia was unbelievable. What he does defensively is not fair to the common all-american.

Cassar majored Wood last year with 5 TDs to none for Wood. I expect a similar outcome this year. That is not a knock on Wood :))) who is very good, he's just not close to Cassar.

Not sure why I overlooked 141, obvious bonus there.

For reference, previous matches (last year's dual unless otherwise noted):
133 - RBY dec Farro 4-1 (2019 Scuffle)
141 - Lee MD Pomrica 23-10
149 - Verk dec Hoffman 5-3
174 - Hall dec Kutler 6-2
Hall dec Kutler 4-0 (2018 Scuffle)
Hall dec Kutler 3-2 (2018 dual)
285 - Cassar MD Wood 12-3

...my opinions (not worth 2 cents)...
125-Paetzell wbdec
133-RBY wbdec
141-Lee wbmajdec
149-Hoffman wbdec
157-Humphreys wbdec
167-Joseph wbmajdec
177-Hall wbdec
184-Weiler wbdec
197-Jacobson wbdec (tough leg rider)
285-Cassar wbmajdec

PSU 18 - Lehigh 15

I don't see Teske coming close to Paetzel. But Paetzel doesnt really score a ton, so let's say 7-2.

OTOH, I think RBY will smoke Farro this year- as long as the ASU match was a homecoming adrenaline aberration. RBY 16-6.

Lee majors Pomrinca.

149 is a toss up no matter who goes.

Humphreys beats Pipher, but no bonus. Humphreys 6-1.

Cenzo bonus

Hall never in doubt. Wins 4-0 with 3:30 of riding time.

Edsell Weiler entertaining but Weiler prevails.

Conel loses 3-1

AC wins 10-3.

18-15 or 21-12 depending on 149.

Not much doubt about our 5 wins.

what does Paetzel do well that Teske can’t handle? Watching him, he seems like a hard nose pressure wrestler without a killer shot or turn. I vision lots of unnecessary level changes then trading escapes leaving a 30sec bout of who can get a TD with time running out.

Yes, we know.

You're already on the Permanently Concerned List, so whether Berge competes in the Lehigh dual doesn't really have any bearing on how concerned we are about you being concerned. We're not concerned.
Should I be concerned about your lack of concern about him being overly concerned about a concerning consternation?;)

I wonder if Brooks and beard come out and look like gang busters today at the met open will change anything.

Hard to see it would. Their brackets ... woof. Both have competed in tougher high school tournaments.

I'd be more concerned about it being more difficult to come off the Permanently Concerned List than off the Permanently Suspended List. ;)

First, be prepared for traffic. Stabler is in the middle of nowhere with only a few small roads in. I worked at Lehigh and still volunteer for their athletic department, but I don't know any decent way to avoid the gridlock.

No food/drink options by Stabler. There are two good brew pubs on Rt. 378 - Copperhead and Taps - within about two miles.

Hellertown has a really good brewery, Lost River Tavern, but they depend on a food truck. Crossroads on Main Street is famous for their cheesesteaks (with tomato sauce unlike the Philly ones). Paprikas has great Hungarian food, but no drinks.

The Wind Creek Casino is about 5 miles away in South Bethlehem. Plus, some other options near Lehigh's campus.
The Promenade Mall has some good restaurants but you will need reservations.

I don't disagree with you - I said in my post that Paetzel is not a ball of fire. He'll stay in position and he's a pretty good scrambler.

But regardless of all the rumors of Teske having trouble making weight, he just doesn't look strong/big at the weight. He probably needs another year or two. Meanwhile, Paetzel is a bull at 125. I think he'll come out on top when Teske presses the action.

Hey, I could be wrong, but I still think Teske has some maturing to do physically because that's the way he's going to win matches.

Braveheart Highland pub is closer and better.

Drinks aside, go get a sandwich at The Goose
