Set aside for the moment the unfairness done to Paterno and the admins and all of PSU by the AG's office and our BOT. Imagine that these various trolls are correct--that all the blame was properly placed on PSU and its employees.

Now let's consider the child welfare people who let JS adopt 6 kids; the TSM board swells like Bruce Heim who knew about Jerry but did not tell the other TSM board members; the Child Welfare clowns who sent COUNSELOR John Seasock in to do a child psychologist's job; the prosecutor who failed to prosecute in '98; the BOT members whose family members were on the TSM Board, and Jack "Swim Trunks" Raykovitz. (There are plenty of others, but let's stop there for purposes of this exercise.)

If you claim to care about the idea that a guy abused kids for a number of years without interruption by ANYBODY, without which outrage there is no Sandusky Scandal, then outline for me what punishment, correction or sanction was doled out to anyone in the above list.

Even if you say, "well, that is how the cookie crumbles. Sometimes you do not get all of the bad guys," you still, as a person who claims to care about CSA, MUST either be outraged and constantly pushing for punishment of the people in those groups, or forever STFU about CSA, which means you STFU about what Paterno did or did not do. Right? At this point, if you are not pushing for the full investigation of these persons and agencies, who are the only bulwark against CSA, then YOU are the enabler. Own it.

Prior to this scandal I do not recall seeing any child protection topics on any penn state board, even off topic. Possibly there were some related to the Catholic Church scandals, but I don’t recall any.
It seems more like a whataboutism than actual child protection concerns .

You joined on March 14th. You must have been lurking for a long long time. Do you get my jive?

No shit? Wouldn't it stand to reason that there certainly would be after what happened here? That's like pointing out that no one in your family talked about cancer until someone in your family was diagnosed with it, then they talked about it often.

I've seen your screen name quite a few times on the panther lair forums, this post seems more about trolling than actual concern for anything that happened at PSU.

Prior to the Sandusky scandal , the penn state
Culture wasn’t called out as being supportive of hiding child abuse to prop up a football culture. Anyone who tried to debate the narrative was cast of not caring about victims of child abuse. Your a little obtuse if you don’t see why supporters of the maligned psu culture dont understand why the culture is more responsible for child abuse than the experts we call out.

I’m not buying your angle. People are quite aware of cancer and many take steps with their health care and lifestyle to help prevent it.

No, I’m not obtuse . People didn’t seem to worry about it. When there was fall out the concerns sprung up in what seems to be deflection.
And I’ll add this is going on seven years ago. Why continually point out failures of the child protection system ( they exist and fixing them will be quite a challenge for a variety of reasons ) on a psu board?
Why not take these concerns to the state legislature?

There were not many threads/topics about International Terrorism before 9-11, either. But nobody ever tried to make me feel like PSU was responsible for international terrorism, so that kind of died out over time.

The place where this could have done the most good would have been in Michigan. Had the people at MSU actually LISTENED to Jim Clemente's lessons about nice guy predators, perhaps they would have stopped their employee from sexually abusing so many of their students.
Unfortunately, they listened to losers like you instead. If you had been just slightly less stupid, those girls might have been saved.

Good gosh, man. I live in Ohio. I get my news about PA politics and government agencies from this board and the links provided. I say "good gosh" because if only 1/2 the corruption shared here is true, there is not a safe clean avenue to pursue with this type of problem. What legislator would you suggest the people of PA to contact? What government agency? The one involved in Porn-Gate? Too many shady characters for certain.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

LOL. He is also assuming that we need new laws. Bullshit. We need someone who will faithfully execute the laws without fear or favor.

In fairness to Bruce Heim, he told Rayckovitz not to report Sandusky.
