i don't really have them just got bored with the threads. I'm excited about this season. I'm excited to see Cael and the boys rise to the occasion. Here's something to do: who will our five returning champs meet in the finals?
Zain Sorensen
Nolf Kemerer
CJ IMAR
Hall A. Valencia
Bo Z. Valencia

Zain-Sorenson
Nolf-Kemmerer
Imar-Massa
Hall-Jordan
Bo-Zahid

Cenzo definitely can make the finals again, but it is gonna be tough? Anyone know if Marsteller is going 165 or 174?

No way I can see Anthony Valencia making the finals.

I liked what someone said about CJ having superior feel to Massa or IMAR. I think Cael is second to none in getting feel wrestlers to develop the conditioning-technique-killer instinct to back it up. That's why I think you'll see both CJ and Hall make big jumps by March. CJ will make the finals

If you compare Cenzo's two matches with Isaac Jordan, you will see he got burned a few times by a hip over in the first match. That move was completely neutralized at BigTens. Fine example of how good the coaches are at breaking things down in preparation for a rematch.

When was Cenzo's first match vs. Massa?

On the flip side of this, I have thought a lot about how other coaches will coach a defense to the inside trip Cenzo uses. so it will be incumbent on him and the staff to find techniques/strategies that use that thought process of his opponents against them. which would make Cenzo doubly dangerous. I still think he gets people with it. I hope he does because of this line of thinking it keeps it front in center in the minds of massa/imar.

Also one of the things I am most wanting to see this season relative to cenzo is how he handles year 2. If he reads the messages board he gets the one match/one tournament wonder moniker a lot. does that drive him and give purpose to this season. does he rest on this laurels? This will be something to watch and certainly one of many storylines heading into the season.

Pin him twice in the finals? But he's not a lightweight, so never mind.

THEY WOULD MAKE HIM HATE THE SPORT !!!!
Doesn't matter. They are the best lightweight coaches in the country, so everything is possible at every weight according to the faithful. Just look at how many titles Gilman won!! And PD3 is already in the finals next year at whatever weight he deigns to wrestle. So are Lee and Warner if they go.

8 AAS and a possible run at PSU and OSU.

another law of brandsdom is that you RS all freshman. This will be another thing ill be watching because part of me thinks that bringing rev porn to IC is that they think they have a team to win a NC or at least get back on the team medal stand (stave off critics in a down year).

Reasonably to have a shot they would have to pull Lee and Warner out of RS. the arrival of PDIII (and going 184) 2nd semester along with Warner(197)/Lee(125) wrestling at midlands and having success could push this narrative should Iowa not meet their lofty program goals early in the season.

They've already beaten you to it.

According to the most wishful thinkers, finalists would be Lee, Kemerer, Sorenson, PD3. AA's would be Stoll, Young, Warner, and Marinelli. So 4 finalists and 8 AA's total. That would be a complete celestial alignment.

A reasonable take on the situation is that Lee and Warner RS, and PD3 flames out. I believe Kemerer is a finalist, but Sorenson's offense is too vanilla to make it to the finals (3rd place). Stoll is a real question mark. Two ACL's on the same knee for a big guy is troublesome to say the least, and him AA'ing is 50/50 at this point. So I'd say that Iowa has one finalist and 5 AA's, and takes home 4th.

Turk, what do you make of all this "go all in" talk? I stated on hr that there's no way Lee goes this year, but most on there probably just skip my posts because I have PSU in my handle...I still think that Lee sits regardless of progress or results and that's the only right call, but some seem hopeful that he goes

Yes and Yes with respect to the subject of each paragraph, IMO.

Although a complete beast, I think many believed IMar's left underhook his freshman year was his bread-and-butter, and solving/avoiding that was the way for an opponent to beat him. Then the nastiest slide-by duck I've ever seen was introduced during the national finals his sophomore year (much to our displeasure). I expect Joseph and the staff to keep adding to and perfecting their arsenal in similar fashion. That said, I still give IMar a ton of respect and believe we see some renewed hunger from him in 2017-18. Please, please, please let's see Joseph, IMar, and Massa stay healthy all season. The build-up to Nationals will be fantastic.

Joseph was not given credit by many outside PSU all season last year. I expect him to handle the doubters in similar fashion this year. Just focus on himself and improve with every match, trusting his program and development. My only concern is that perhaps he comes in a little overconfident and gets burned a time or two, but if that really is a risk (I don't feel strongly that it is), I'm betting it gets exposed and addressed early.
