Speculation growing that Chase Young will be ruled ineligible for season

Chase won’t need a built in motivational factor. God help Clifford

Are you a 12 year old?? Hasn't O$U embarrassed itself enough lately to not have you going around posting on other teams boards??

E$PN putting one of their heavy hitters out in front of this. Lest they all forget, IT'S IN THE NCAA RULE BOOK AS BEING ILLEGAL!!! That's why every other college football player doesn't do it.

Oh good lord. The story’s changed multiple times, now they’ve found a version they’re sticking with, and this joker is buying it hook, line and sinker.

This whole thing about pinning it on CJF is genius on the part of O$U. Textbook PR firm spinning a negative into a positive... and blame the biggest cancer they have in Smith.

For sure he'll be back for Penn State game and this way they've built in "motivation" factor.

Their PR firm is top notch
There is no motivation factor...2 top ten teams will play in the horseshoe...if they have any motivation beyond that, hopefully it leads to them committing false start and offsides penalties lol

Injustice against osu huh? This is what happens when you are allowed to break the rules for decades.

Meanwhile, their starting qb has no business being on the field.

Greenberg can eat a bag of dicks. So sorry your ratings might suffer.

We once suspended our starting middle linebacker 4 games for making prank phone calls.

You're out of your league here Buckeye idiot.

Oops....my bad....Buckeye idiot is redundant.

Can you imagine, as a head coach, suspending your future-NFL, star wide receiver from a bowl game against a top opponent because said wide receiver did not meet your GPA standard, even though said wide receiver was eligible by ncaa standards? Can you imagine that? Yeah, JoePa did that too.

I hate us.

Or the standout RB who borrowed a suit to attend an award ceremony.

Greenberg is an actor, just like the rest of this faux reality TV. He’s good at what he does but the conversations and outrage are rehearsed. We have no idea what his actual opinion is. Interesting story and the ESPN hype machine is focused on ratings.

The popular narrative is to hate on the NCAA and that players should be paid, so this will work out in Chase's favor. But it's funny that nobody will mention that despite the rule about loans being a bit ridiculous, the reason it exists is because if it didn't, agents and others would use the "loan" loophole and figure out a way to funnel money to players. This isn't rocket science. The NCAA has to take hard line stances on unpopular things because if they didn't, more egregious illegal things would be even more difficult to prevent and enforce than they are today.

Exactly. Then on gameday Herby says OSU will appeal and probably get the suspension reduced because of "good behavior". WTF is that? Breaking NCAA rules is good behavior? You can't make this sh!t up.

Good behavior = "we at ESPN like my alma mater."

Hey Chase, we saw in your well-worded and self-serving disclosure tweet, which clearly wasn't written by you. Having perused the minimal others you seem to have written, ... uh....yeah. BRUH!!

Anyway, so you're claiming you had to borrow money from a "close" family friend to fly your girlfriend out to California to join you for the Rose Bowl.

First, that sounds ridiculous.

Second, it sure sounds like a benefit most students don't get if they or their families or the people they grew up around can't afford it.

And third, does this great family friend you made after you committed to tOSU as one of the top CFB prospects in the country have any ties to tOSU or sports AT ALL? If the answer is yes, cut the crap and allow the organizations now dealing with you to return to treating youlike a normal collegiate athlete who doesn't play for a media sweetheart program as they hype games v Penn State and Michigan.

Hot off the presses from the Atlantic:

Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, college football’s sacks leader, will sit out one more game and be eligible to return for the Buckeyes’ Nov. 23 home game against the Nittany Lions, according to a decision by the NCAA. Young had been suspended last week pending an investigation of possible extra benefits.
Is this the right call? What does it mean for the Ohio State defense, and what does it mean for Young’s postseason award candidacies? Talk about that and more here.

No, if he took money from an agent, he should be Ineligible from the time he took it and OSU should forfeit games he played in when he was ineligible and should not be able to play on the College level again even if he paid it back. The two game suspension vs Maryland and Rutgers were in the cards long ago. Emmert and Delany are doing back flips as I type this.

Hypothetical:

Let’s say the same situation existed in 2016 with Penn State and Saquon Barkley*. Would (a) the ncaa and b1g have supported Barkley’s early return or any return, and (b) would Penn State have pushed for Barkley’s early return or any return?

I bet the situation would have been handled very differently. Actually, I expect Franklin would have dismissed Barkley from the program before the ncaa or b1g weighed in.

* Saquon Barkley was a model student-athlete. I only chose him in this hypothetical since he was of a similar stature as chase young.

So Young was suspended for 2 games for accepting money. Where was the Big Ten official statement of reprimand? Joe Bachie was suspended for taking PED's. Where was the Big Ten statement? Or are those only produced for Penn State?

Another issue is the inconsistency with which the NCAA hands out punishment; the Penn State fiasco taught them that going forward, tread lightly, or you'll become irrelevant. I'm sure when word of a 2-4 game suspension got out, the NCAA was like....'Um.....does that work for you Chase?'.

Meanwhile if we knew what those msu dirtbags did to make Shelton so angry we'd probably freak out.

Wow. That is some next level high-horsery. What fart sniffers.

Obviously violating the sportsmanship policy is far more egregious than violating NCAA rules.

The thread title needs to be changed in light of unexpected developments.

Sean Fitz is tweeting some stuff about 'who' ratted on Young; anyone have any other info?

Also, the Bucknuts twitter feed is full of funny things...
