Very cool Fair. I've seen it a few times at my camp in Northern NY. It's amazing.
I envy you. Its on my bucket list.
Mine as well. I'd like to go to Churchill Manitoba. I've seen them in the greater Twin Cities area years ago, but (stating the obvious) I am sure it is nothing compared to Canada, Alaska, or anywhere else close to the artic circle.

Saw it twice right here in W Pa. First time scared the hell outta me when I was a young lad. I had read that NASA was going to release some tracer chemicals in the upper atmosphere. I was out late and saw the sky turning all these strange colors and thought they burned up the whole atmosphere! Few minutes later realized it was the northern lights and dragged the whole family outside to see it.
Mine too. I'm still learning my way around photographing the Milky Way but the Northern Lights are next up.

On my bucket list as well. Traveled to Iceland many years ago this time of year in hopes of catching a glimpse but it was overcast the entire time we were there.

Pictures are great. I was lucky enough to see this phenomenon live once back in the 70's right here in the Wyoming Valley.
I've seen them twice in PA (years ago) - once at Delaware Water Gap, once at Hickory Run State Park. The display at HR went on for quite a while and was spectacular.
Supposedly, they are dipping much lower in the next few days. There's a chance that they'll be visible in most of PA the next few days (and lots of other states where they are not usually visible).
Well looks like I wont get to see them in MD.
But hopefully the Jupiter/Santurn Conjunction (Christmas Star) will be viewable.

They should set up a notification system like texts or email for when there is an active display. Just sign up for notifications.
Yes, It's worth it. I think you'll want to start checking it at about 05:30pm Eastern? till about 01:30am Eastern? Sometimes as late as 3:30am.
I think Alberta has some kind of notification forecast? I'll have to see if I can find it. That is like a weather forcast though. This season should be active. By most accounts, this won't be the last time. I guess Norway was active today.
Not as good as a notification system such as the one mentioned, but it's a start.
