There are no splits anymore, haven't been for years. Contracts have the home team keeping the gate, with the visitor getting a fixed fee, usually in the mid-six figure range (unless it's a one and done where the visitor gets more).
Assume that PSU and VT will work something out if attendance is impaired.
Do schools split the money from the gate when any other game happens? If you get the answer to that question then you'll have the answer to your question.
