State Supreme Court Blocks Release of Catholic Church Sex Abuse Investigation

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has blocked the planned release of a report by the state attorney general allegedly detailing decades of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

The two-year investigation by Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro included hundreds of cases from six Catholic dioceses, including Allentown and Scranton.

The report was set to be released this week, but the state Supreme Court issued a stay on the release Wednesday in order to consider legal challenges to releasing the report.

Legal challenges to releasing the report..hmmm Oh you mean like the State Government of PA is implicated throughout the entire thing, and they don't want it to cloud the positive headlines we keep hearing regarding Pennsylvania's surplus budget this year? Wonder if that surplus budget had anything to do with the 60 million the state got from Penn State from the Sandusky case when nationwide reporting lead to the debacle that ensued as we all learned what a rush to judgement can do to the overall outcome of this crap.

In this case they've been investigating it for over a year, and it certainly looks like the Supreme Court put their foot down. I don't if this story will get much national attention? ... What Paterno/Public figure can they hang for this one?

Not anyone in the Gov't says the Supreme Court

Have not paid attention to this story other than the headlines. Who or what entity asked the Supreme Court to issue this stay and what is their basis? IIRC most of the individual Diocese in PA are on record as favoring release of the report.
