Looking back to November 2011, here are some random thoughts and comments.

1. I. AM. OUTRAGED.

2. The wins were restored. 409. True student-athletes got their hard-fought wins back. Joe is #1 in wins, as he should be.

3. mike mcqueary is a coward.

4. Joe did all that the law allowed him to do. The "moral obligation"/"moral failure" arguments have no foundation and were concocted by people trying to deflect blame or with an agenda against Joe.

5. Tim, Gary, and Graham got screwed. They were pawns. My heart goes out to all of them not only for being railroaded, but also because Tim and Graham are sick and Gary's wife is sick. They are good men who deserve better fates.

6. I hope Graham appeals and that Tim and Gary speak out one day (beyond Gary's Facebook post that was taken down).

7. jack raykovitz should be charged with failure to report, etc. He should be in jail.

8. Joe was exonerated by the oag in November 2011. Joe was never charged with a crime.

9. In 2014, after trashing Joe, the ncaa published guidelines instructing people in Joe's position to do exactly what he did in 2001.

10. corbett should be investigated for his conduct as ag and governor and for his ties to the second mile.

11. jerry sandusky did not receive a fair trial and should be granted a new trial. This is not to say that he is not a pedophile. He still has a right to a fair trial as an American.

12. freeh, the ncaa (emmert), rodney, and the old-guard trustees should be investigated for their tangled web in misplacing blame on Joe and the football program.

13. The ncaa violated their by-laws in sanctioning Penn State. First, Penn State did not break any ncaa rules. Second, the ncaa did not conduct their own investigation of Penn State. Based on the first point, the ncaa had no grounds to investigate Penn State. There was no lack of institutional control at Penn State.

14. Penn State remains one of just a few FBS/Division 1 schools to never commit a major ncaa violation and to never be investigated by the ncaa.

15. jerry sandusky was found not guilty of the rape charge in the Lasch shower incident.

16. The Spanier trial proved there was no conspiracy and no cover-up by Penn State in the sandusky shower incident. There was no concerted effort by anyone at Penn State to cover-up for sandusky for football or for any other reason.

17. Drs. Dranov and McQueary learned of the Lasch shower incident before Joe and did not recommend that mike call the police.

18. frank fina, who was one of the state attorneys who prosecuted sandusky, stated in a cnn interview that he found no evidence that Joe was involved in any cover-up of sandusky.

19. Penn State reviewed the Lasch shower incident with legal counsel and with jack raykovitz, the ceo of the second mile. raykovitz was a mandated reporter. No one at Penn State was a mandated reporter.

20. PMA concluded that Penn State did not adequately vet the claims of alleged sandusky victims before settling with them.

21. Claims that Joe knew of abuse by sandusky in the 1970s are completely unsubstantiated.

22. I. AM. OUTRAGED.

Great summation. No one outside of this board gives a damn about it, however, and that is why the narrative won't change unless a major book or investigative documentary exposes all the real creeps and criminals in this situation. If you have ever heard the phrase, " for the want of a nail, the war was lost", I think sums up this situation. For the want of one phone call to DPW, here we sit today. That needed to be done by the folks in administration.

Lost in all of this is that there is no evidence, despite the oag's ramblings, of any bad intent by Curley, Schultz, or Spanier. There was no conspiracy, no desire to protect sandusky, Joe, the football program, or Penn State. Their behavior and that of others involved (Dranov, Dr. McQueary, Joe, etc.) is consistent with the notion of horseplay.* There is no evidence that they knew of abuse and ignored it.

* In the sandusky trial in 2012, mike mcqueary testified that he could not see a sex act in the shower. Hench, sandusky was found not guilty of the rape charge.

1. Hear, hear

2. A small comfort in comparison to the recognition he deserves, but comforting nonetheless

3. And then some

4. He did absolutely what was right, sparing some misplaced loyalty to McQueary (Coach Paterno defended his players to a fault)

5. Spanier is completely a victim of Corbett, with Curley and Schultz as collateral damage

6. I hope they all speak on what they truly believe/know (about Sandusky, McQueary, everything), but I know they have to submit to the false narrative and today's PC culture for their families' sake

7. Agree to disagree with you on this, though Raykovitz could have insulated TSM better liability-wise

8. Nor should have ever been

9. With many well-spent dollars sent to the policy writers, I'm sure

10. If there were still stocks in the public square, they would suit Corbett perfectly

11. He absolutely deserves and should win that right. I grant it's possible that Sandusky showed physical affection to the children he cared about so deeply in ways that (in today's society at least) are seen inappropriate, but pedophilia/sexual contact on his behalf is just nonsense.

12. More public stocks for that lot

13. By-law #1: Collect obscene amounts of television revenue; By-law #2: Transfer that revenue to attorneys and administrators, with not a cent to student-athletes

14. I hope the NCAA's "investigating" days come to an end

15. Many more of those charges he'll be found not guilty of in a new, fair trial

16. Even if they did actually protect Sandusky/the university from undue scrutiny, they did the right thing

17. I'm sure they trusted in MM's credibility just as much as C/S/S did

18. More or less a pawn of Corbett, porn-addled to boot

19. An appropriate CYA move to take the "report" to TSM

20. A checkbook wide-open by design

21. And fabricated

22. Hear, hear, good sir.

Don't forget Fina, Costanzo and Blessington - AG Corbutt's Corrupt SWIGJ Porn-dogs - went to work for Seth Williams after Kane was elected, who had just got court approval to set up his own corrupt Grand Jury "dirty-tricks machine".

I spent the last three days in State College. No matter what camp you are in - a "Joebot", a "Move-oner", or somewhere in between - Penn State is still a great university and State College is a great town. I observed many high schoolers and parents taking visits, and overheard a few conversations. The excitement in the students voices and the smiles on the parents faces was refreshing. Through all of the excrement that we have had to endure since 2011, Penn State is still, and will always be, a terrific college experience.

That can not be stripped away by the NCAA, Louis Freeh, the BOT nor any of the haters.

I even saw some JVP merchandise in the stores downtown.

Hindsight bias, also known as the "knew-it-all-along" effect or creeping determinism, is the inclination, after an event has occurred, to see the event as having been predictable, despite there having been little or no objective basis for predicting it.

Move on from where? Continue to pretend we are UConn and only started football at IA in 2011?

F:eek:CK EVERYTHING.

And here are my thoughts on your comments.

Looking back to November 2011, here are some random thoughts and comments.

1. I. AM. OUTRAGED. OK.

2. The wins were restored. 409. True student-athletes got their hard-fought wins back. Joe is #1 in wins, as he should be. Agreed.

3. mike mcqueary is a coward. Probably not. Not smart? Sure.

4. Joe did all that the law allowed him to do. The "moral obligation"/"moral failure" arguments have no foundation and were concocted by people trying to deflect blame or with an agenda against Joe. No, he could have done more. Doesn't make him any less of a person than he was. We are all human. No need to assign perfection to him.

5. Tim, Gary, and Graham got screwed. They were pawns. My heart goes out to all of them not only for being railroaded, but also because Tim and Graham are sick and Gary's wife is sick. They are good men who deserve better fates. No one except Sandusky should be in jail. No one asks for a situation as crazy as this to be thrown in their laps.

6. I hope Graham appeals and that Tim and Gary speak out one day (beyond Gary's Facebook post that was taken down). Me too. I doubt they will. Anything they say will be attacked.

7. jack raykovitz should be charged with failure to report, etc. He should be in jail. No one except JS should be in jail. Jack Raykovitz, whoever he is, did not deserve to have JS in his life.

8. Joe was exonerated by the oag in November 2011. Joe was never charged with a crime. It is insane that anyone would feel JP should be charged with a crime. Insane.

9. In 2014, after trashing Joe, the ncaa published guidelines instructing people in Joe's position to do exactly what he did in 2001. That isn't a limit on what they COULD do. Don't pretend it is. There's no need to make an argument that isn't true and is misleading. Joe was great. No one needs to pretend he couldn't have handled this better.

10. corbett should be investigated for his conduct as ag and governor and for his ties to the second mile. Of course not. He is just another grandstanding politician that was protecting his bacon. He probably knew that if he didn't come out strong against everyone, someone might ask, "Where were you when you were AG?"

11. jerry sandusky did not receive a fair trial and should be grated a new trial. This is not to say that he is not a pedophile. He still has a right to a fair trial as an American. OK. But do not try to tell me that there's more than an 0.001% chance JS isn't a pedophile.

12. freeh, the ncaa (emmert), rodney, and the old-guard trustees should be investigated for their tangled web in misplacing blame on Joe and the football program. Probably not. We get the leaders we deserve. This is the type of leader we voted for and got.

Correct. No one knew what to do. It is easy to say "call the cops". Easy to say. Tougher to do. It is also easy to say that McQueary should have kicked the shit out of JS. Easy to say. Tougher to do.

17. Drs. Dranov and McQueary learned of the Lasch shower incident before Joe and did not recommend that mike call the police. Sure. They didn't know what to do. Easy to say "call the police", tougher to do.

18. frank fina, who was one of the state attorneys who prosecuted sandusky, stated in a cnn interview that he found no evidence that Joe was involved in any cover-up of sandusky. Isn't Frank Fina the devil? If so, does this mean that maybe Joe is guilty?

19. Penn State reviewed the Lasch shower incident with legal counsel and with jack raykovitz, the ceo of the second mile. raykovitz was a mandated reporter. No one at Penn State was a mandated reporter. Mandated reporter is the same law that you don't trust when it involves convicting JS. Mandated reporter is just morons saying "we can't ever have this happen again". But we get the leaders we vote for.

20. PMA concluded that Penn State did not adequately vet the claims of alleged sandusky victims before settling with them. Vet their claims? Are you crazy? What type of leader would put himself at risk to protect someone else's money? Someone might say, "Why are they attacking the victim?" We can't have that.

21. Claims that Joe knew of abuse by sandusky in the 1970s are completely unsubstantiated. Other than JS, the worst people in the entire affair are those who propagated this baseless claim. They should be punished....

11. jerry sandusky did not receive a fair trial and should be grated a new trial. This is not to say that he is not a pedophile. He still has a right to a fair trial as an American.

12. freeh, the ncaa (emmert), rodney, and the old-guard trustees should be investigated for their tangled web in misplacing blame on Joe and the football program.

And here are my thoughts on your comments.
12. We did not elect any of those leaders.

20. The BOT should be looking at it as our money not other people's money. They're supposed to represent and act on behalf of the best interests of the university and it was the university's money.

While you are technically right on number 13 our President and BOT left them take this action so honestly the blame lies with PSU leadership. I'd also add 23. PSU survived the ridiculous sanctions and never had a losing season. Their worst than the death penalty sanctions failed.....

I agree with everything except 4 & 5.

4. I think Joe should have done more to follow up. I don't mean that he should have influenced the administration's efforts. I mean that he should have contacted TC and asked "Did you get this thing taken care of? Is there anything more you need from me?".

5. C&S did a horrible job. MM's report should have been clearly documented so that there would be no doubt about who said what. PSU's response should also have been clearly documented (including what was said to TSM and their response). that way there would be no doubt about what action they took and why.

Don't get me wrong. I see ZERO evidence that they conspired to cover things up in order to protect football and that's what the sanctions were all about.

Unfortunately I don't think #14 is accurate any more. I'm pretty sure that the NCAA considers lack of institutional control to be a major NCAA violation. We might think it's unfair but it's nw our cross to bear.

I totally agree that JM, Dranov, & Raykovitz were left off the hook for no apparent reason. It seems to me that those people have just as much if not more responsibility than C/S/S.

The state agencies are also guilty. They were told and couldn't get anything done about it. Then a football coach is told, passes it to his boss, and it's all his fault. That's pretty sick thinking.

The media is disgusting. Talk about fake news. MM told Joe that he witnessed JS raping a boy. Joe knew about sexual assault in the 70s and again in 1998. Joe talked C&S out of reporting to the authorities. They aren't responsible for fact checking. They aren't even responsible or sensationalizing a story in order to get clicks.
