Free baking lessons!

"Back in the day, mothers and grandmothers passed down their culinary knowledge to daughters and granddaughters side-by-side in the kitchen, waiting to mix in an egg or lick extra icing from the spoon.

On Sunday, 97-year-old Lucy Pollock, of Latrobe, will do the same. The only difference is that her daughter will stream the whole thing live on Facebook for anyone to enjoy and learn from."

I'm 58 years old. It's hard to believe when we were in grade school we were given instructions on how to hide under a desk in case Russia dropped a nuclear bomb on us.
Now we're living through a situation more simaler to the book ending of War of the Worlds.

Nah. It’s bad now, but the really bad stuff is coming, probably in our children’s lifetimes.

Maybe it’ll be something as infectious as coronavirus but kills more like a slow-onset Ebola. Maybe it’ll be bacterial, after antibiotics stop working due in large part to abuse by factory farmers.

And we’re not even mentioning the rising seas that’ll flood NYC, Miami, etc.

More nostalgia! Boys and girls, what do you do when you see the flash? Duck and cover! What was the turtle's name? Forgot that part.

Walked over to the Hudson River and took these of the USN Comfort headed to Pier 90 (around 50th St.) as part of the Coronavirus effort.

I originally said Mar
The problem now for us on the counties that border New Jersey is 2 fold.
First is the residents that have been going to work in New York and northern New Jersey have maybe already been exposed. They now feel that Corona was lingering about 5 weeks ago in New York area.
Second. With New York City getting overwhelmed with cases ,there will be an exodus to outlying areas including Northampton and Monroe county because of familiarity with area.
I don't know if President or Governor will have stomach to declare a stay in place mandate,(Martial Law)
Hopefully they have breakthrough in medicine treatment.
Keep safe.
As I was concerned last week. Monroe County is starting to blow up. They put tent in parking lot at St Luke's Monroe Campus.
I also noted martial law and it appears that is happening.

Jo annes has a great thing going if you live near one. pull up to the curb, give them a call, and they will bring you prepared kits with patterns, and instruction videos on their website. The free kits are to be returned for distribution to medical professionals, but you can easily buy your own materials from them as well online.

I’m 3-D printing some face shields at home too. if anyone out there has a printer collecting dust, let me know, and I’ll share the details.

My aunt has been sewing them for a local hospital and found time to make me one.

Your contributions to the board are much appreciated. Adam Graves sucks and one of my favorite memories of watching sports as a youth is when fans would chant “1940” during the Rangers annual failure.

Nice! One question: Is this properly licensed by the Rangers? Actually, I would be surprised if we don't start seeing lots of licensed face masks for pro and college teams.

Without getting too far into the legal weeds, I think she repurposed it from an existing (already sold) trademarked item, like a bed sheet, so it's definitely not copyright infringement (see first sale doctrine). But it'd probably be trademark infringement if she sold them. It's probably even per se trademark infringement but at the nominal, unenforceable level.

I think you're right though, you will see branded face masks very soon. I think teams and leagues would be very wise, however, to divert revenues from mask sales toward charitable or nonprofit ends.

I see you're a Penguins fan and not a Flyers fan. I was at the game where your Adam Graves hatred took seed. I was also at the game where the last NINE-teen-FOR-ty chant occurred. When the Rangers won the cup in 1994 we all gave that one a last run during the celebration.

Flo has already issued a third party takedown request.

When I first posted this thread ,it was with intentions of how our life was going to change and the concern of how close we live to New York and New Jersey and the potential of us being impacted by the situation. I had no clue how directly it was to impact my family
In order in the last 3 weeks.
My daughter's 24 year old high school friend who is a nurse in New Jersey was diagnosed with Covid19. She is recovering at home.
My neighbor who lives on same street as me and was huge Penn State fan got into a bad mental state from being in stay at home situation, went out and murdered a guy in a love triangle. His wife who is a nurse and my wife are good friends. We had gone out for movie and drinks on New Year's.
My mom had to be hospitalized over Easter. I literally dropped her off front ER door knowing if things didn't go good it maybe was the last time I would see her. She's home recovering.
And lastly, on Monday my wife got a call that her best friend from high school died from Corona. She was 58 and had numerous health issues and 2 weeks ago was admitted into a nursing rehab center to get some extra care.My wife talked her last week on phone.
It certainly puts things in perspective on how outside circumstances can change your life forever.
I stopped watching the news. Hopefully some normalcy is in front of us.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you and your family will be able to get through this and stronger on the other side.

I am so sorry, Call. This virus has touched everybody, even if it is "just" the stress of staying at home. The fact that we are about a month in with still little to no idea what to expect makes it that much harder.

Sorry to hear Call, hang in there. I feel lucky and grateful that no one close to me has been stricken yet and that it's only been a disruption to my lifestyle, which I can certainly live with. To that end, I've taken to shaving my head for the first time since I wrestled in high school.

.
Was the nurse wife cheating with the guy who was murdered? Damn!
I found out yesterday one guy from my office died from coronavirus last week. My office has ~700 people and I didn't know the guy personally.

His Wife was not involved. He had a girlfriend that none of us were aware of and shot her current boyfriend. Keep in mind my neighbor, the accused does not have anything on his criminal history. He has been married for 30+ years. Sat on town council for years, ran for Mayor, a very active volunteer firefighter for 45 years. His one vice was going up to Mt. Airy Casino on Sundays.
I can tell you I was dumbfounded when I read the story that morning on Lehigh Valley Live.

I was going to post this on the Essential Non- Essential thread but thought I should post it where it might be seen by more of the forum.
I live in the Bangor School District which borders New Jersey. I have some knowledge that effective most likely Monday that New York City and and outlying area including some of New Jersey and potentially Pennsylvania will be put on Lock Down.
This info is not random opinion but is from a person in a position with unique knowledge of the situation.
I did not post this for people to argue the wrongs and rights of what is being done.
I'm just telling you what might be done.!

Make sure you have the necessities to hunker down for awhile. Example of issue. My sister is severe diabetic and Walmart was out of insulin for a day. She did get it the following day.

Everybody take care.
When I saw Rutgers match was postponed I was curious when I posted the thread about the pending state shut down.
I think this post which was March 16th was the first I noted what was coming.
I think winter sports are going to struggle to be completed without a bubble mentality.
I went to dentist last week and he is of the thought that we will not be back to normalcy until Spring of 2022. He cited some specific medical knowledge of the vaccine and antibodies issues, the distribution issues and the mutant Covid19 properties that have started to show up. He thinks we'll have a lull in cases this coming summer but with the above issues late 2021 will be another difficult time for the public.
It was his opinion but with a lot of medical thought and knowledge.
Let's hope he is wrong.
