Bonus points have played a major part in several of Penn State's National Championships. Not all, but a couple. And when they haven't been significant enough to make a difference in the standings, it's still part of the culture the coaches try to instill.

Will Bonus Points play a part in 2022's NCAA finish? Hypothetical for now, but it could.

I looked at the Iowa starters and the Penn State starters. Just against D1 competition the numbers are close to this;
Penn State: Bonus rate = 57%
Iowa: Bonus rate = 40%

Didn't look at the MD, TF, FALL breakdown, so just looking at this in a macro sense. With approximately 40 bouts at the NCAA Championship, that's an estimate of 7 more bonus point wins, maybe about 10 points.

We all know data at this level of detail is a bunch of hooey, but the theoretical thought is not. THIS YEAR, THERE IS EVIDENCE TO SUGGEST PENN STATE WILL HAVE MORE BONUS POINTS AT THE NCAA TOURNAMENT THAN OUR CLOSEST COMPETITION.

Spencer Lee was pretty important.

Big Greg is the most dominant wrestler on the team. IIRC he scored the most bonus points last year at NCAAs, taking two Ls along the way. He could bonus his way to the semis, depending on the bracket.
