How in the world does a team get so thin at so many positions without graduating any more players than in a typical year? Does being this thin at offensive line have a carry over to the fall?

Graduation, the portal and injuries have impacted the depth. Many teams including OSU and Clemson are having similar issues. There are several guys recovery from prior injuries or got nicked up in the spring.
 
More and more often the better players leave early. It's not a matter of bodies at a particular position. It's a matter of experienced people at each position. We'll probably always be considered a "young team". Good guys leave, good guys enter the program but have to get up to speed.

All true. But elite teams seem much more adept at getting talent ready to play sooner and at a higher level.
