I made some changes for you

1. Wrestling was invented in 2010 so I crossed out everything before 2011.
2. Any dual win that doesn't coincide with the National Title is actually a loss
3. I took the liberty of vacating 2020 because you still owe us a home match and I don't think you're giving us two in a row
4. I thought about giving you 2015 but decided not to

PSU leads the series 7-0.

I think it’s fair to deduct one from Iowa after 4,000 bottles rained down on our wrestlers this year. 😇

Anything pre 1990, when the NCAA discovered Iowa was giving out too many scholarships, needs to be disregarded.

That being said, what Iowa was able to do after that while on scholarship restrictions is quite impressive.

You post this on our board, and you are met with fun banter. I post on your board that PA has 11 Division 1 programs (in response to a post saying PA wasn’t thought of as having high level wrestling in the 90s) and they tell me to get off their board. I mean it wasn’t even a dis to Iowa or a post about Penn State.

They don’t like each other over there they sure as hell aren’t gonna like some PSU fan. As Mike Z would say, grow thicker skin. Lol

Hey 98lber… thank you.
You're welcome.

Reasonableness may only go so far on these boards. Although sometimes a response may appear unreasonable, it is probably equally unreasonable to expect everyone to read and follow all the different threads. Much of the time it is simply miscommunication.

I tend to give the benefit of the doubt... up to a point. Once I am subject to belligerent ad hominem attacks, I may regress to give it back in spades (vs use ignore). I consider this a self-indulgent vice. I probably should try to stick to the higher ground, but different approaches seem more effective in dealing with some.

I’m still new to posting and it’s definitely been a learning process. I wouldn’t post today some of what I was posting a couple weeks ago. Correcting the record is like fighting the Borg. I did note that the person over there that is telling me off does this regularly to lots of people. Seems like that’s his thing.

I appreciate the support.

Live and learn. Factor in the potential for toxic masculinity to affect your enjoyment. Not backing down and giving it as you get it seems to me an expectation on some boards more than others. Remember it is ok to fail, just try to fail forward fast.

Link? (or Cliff notes version)?
I’m still catching flak for what I thought was interesting more than two weeks ago. This time from someone that, based on my limited research, appears to be their Board’s bully (or one of them anyway). 98lber defended me. I promise that I didn’t bring it up again; I was really hoping it would die a lonely, forgotten death.

Quit giving a shit what a bunch of clowns spew at you. As Dunkej01 pointed out, post what you want to post. If someone engages you in a manner that interests you, have conversation. If someone chooses to be a dick, f@#k'em. You aren't responsible for genuflecting or attempting appeasement.

Keep your head up and pound away over there. I’m enjoying my retirement from HR. Don’t make me have to go back.

Now go get ‘em killer. ..

According to one poster on HR, Kolat wasn’t on Gable’s radar because PA high school wrestling didn’t have the reputation it has today.

I guess the weakness of PA wrestling in the late 80s and early 90s was too much to overcome placing twice at the Midlands, winning cadet world silver, taking 4th at US Senior nationals, winning I don’t know how many junior national championships and being OW every time, etc., all while in high school.

Strange how PA-bred wrestlers dominated NCAA Chapionships (i.e., All-American placements) during the late 80s and early 90s..... and for decades before that. Very weird.

I have some of these accolades wrong. Point still valid regardless.

Dan gable came to central PA in 1989 to recruit. I can assure you he knew about PA wrestling.

I guess the weakness of PA wrestling in the late 80s and early 90s was too much to overcome placing twice at the Midlands, winning cadet world silver, taking 4th at US Senior nationals, winning I don’t know how many junior national championships and being OW every time, etc., all while in high school.
Gable did not have great luck with his PA recruits. Steve Maurey never accomplished anything at Iowa, Ray Briziner AAed but did not become what I am sure Gable envisioned, plus he was extremely eccentric. He had a third PA recruit but I do not remember who it was.

With that said, Gable very much tried to recruit Kolat and Kolat very strongly considered the Hawks. Fritz did an unbelievable job developing a relationship with recruit Kolat.
