Seven college football bowl games that look like stinkers

Sun Bowl
Through six games, Stanford’s defensive front was ineffective. If that had remained true, Pitt’s potential dominance on the ground would be enticing. Instead, the Cardinal turned in an impressive effort during their final six contests. And you needn’t look further than Pitt’s last two games to discover how the offense fared when forced to pass; Kenny Pickett mustered 3.5 yards per pass attempt. Dreadful. Hopefully, the efficient version of Stanford QB K.J. Costello shows up. Otherwise, the Sun Bowl crowd will be observing a whole bunch of mediocre offense.

Holiday Bowl
In the modern era, the 2008 Sun Bowl between Oregon State and Pitt accounted for the fewest points: three. There’s a non-zero chance the Holiday Bowl ties that record. Northwestern’s offense ranks 124th nationally in yards per play, while Utah’s defense is 13th in that category. Of Northwestern’s final seven opponents, only Notre Dame and Ohio State scored more than 17 points. Utah lost dual-threat quarterback Tyler Huntley and star runner Zack Moss to injury. If you thought Utah’s loss in the Pac-12 title was ugly, you might consider avoiding this one.

so when Pitt fans decide if they are going to attend a bowl or not do they weigh the orchestra and art shows and theatre in Pittsburgh or in the bowl's host city?

also....are they entitled to free drinks at the end of the game? as tradition dictates?

if they stay of course

the Sun Bowl may want to lay in a couple 2 litre bottles just in case

The El Paso orchestra is going to be PACKED that weekend, in direct competition with the Sun Bowl, that goes without question. Everyone knows when you're in a city with lots of options, the orchestra wins out 9 out of 10 times. With many of those in attendance wearing Steelers jerseys, from China of course.

Wonder how safe Pitt + 6 1/2 is?? Love prob won’t play, Stanford sucks this year, and I don’t know if Shaw feels safe there right now.
Stanford was 8-4 with close losses to UDub and WSU. Shaw has had a good run and I doubt that he’s on any hot seat.

He's not. Stanford is not going to fire a coach for going 8-4, particularly David Shaw. They have a different way of looking at things and can afford to do so. Shaw can go 8-4 until he (voluntarily) decides to retire.

You can't forget that there is an entire other country right next door to El Paso with an entirely different culture for them to absorb. Unless you are just going ahead and assuming that no Pitt fans have a passport?

I’m sure that the DUZZ is ready. Now that he’s completely mined Florida for 2* recruits Ciudad Juarez is virgin territory.

Stanford headed to Sun Bowl; draws 6-loss team

The bowl season will take Stanford to Texas once again.

The Cardinal (8-4) is headed to El Paso for the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 against Pitt. Kickoff is 11 a.m. (Pacific) on CBS.

It’s the fifth Sun Bowl for Stanford, including a 2016 victory over North Carolina. In 2017, Stanford played in the Alamo Bowl, based in San Antonio. It’s the 10th year in a row that Stanford has been invited to a bowl, a school record.

Stanfor will be playing in Texas for the third year in a row, returning to El Paso for the Sun Bowl it won in 2016. Last season, Stanford was in San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl. At least the matchup is novel: Stanford hasn’t played Pitt since 1932.

Pitt has a 7-6 record, but went 6-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, all six wins coming against teams in the bowl lineup. The Panthers were routed 42-10 by Clemson on Saturday in the ACC championship game. They’ve also been routed by Central Florida (45-14) and Penn State (51-6). Pitt’s most impressive showing against top-flight competition might have been a 19-14 loss at Notre Dame.

Stanford and Pitt have met only three times, most recently in 1932 in Pittsburgh. They played in the 1928 Rose Bowl, won by Stanford 7-6.

OMG lol
