what is your impression of the physical condition of this team at this point. if you look at the season, this team has wound up having to put a lot of energy in games that most probably would not have expected before the season started.

Pitt - not sure anyone thought we would have a dog fight in this game after the last two games with them. most in this board plus Phil expected a good beat down.

Buffalo - score was not indicative of how much work this was.

Maryland - actually most expected tough game and we put beat down on turtles.

Purdue - depleted Purdue team still forced a lot of work from PSU team.

Iowa - tough game and we expected that one. very physical. Struggle to put them away.

UMich - seemed like we would beat them down, then second half comeback. PSU D on field over 80 plays.

MSU - solid win but again very physical and wound up with several injuries like Noah Cain. game score was lopsided but hard to put away a depleted Spartan team.

Minny - nobody at start of season would have thought this game was going to be a tester. their schedule and quite a bit of luck put them undefeated going into this game. another game that showed continued degradation of defense with no pass rush at all. Minny had a lot more energy. offense actually produced a lot of yards but not the points to show for it.

Indiana - this was not supposed to be a team that was testing us with 7-2 record. they played with so much more energy than we had.

trend seems to be a deteriorating defense and opponents playing with more energy. many of our games we seem to be facing opponents with more life and more to play for that might have been expected. watchin Indy get hammered by tOSU at the start of the season, i would have guessed this was a team we were going to smoke by 30 pts.

is this team worn out? are there more injured players than are officially injured? offense has lacked consistency even in big score games but the defense kept us in games. now the defense is missing and no longer can keep us in games. this does not seem to be the same team that we saw at the start of the season.

Bottom line is when you play a stretch of schedule as demanding as the one psu is going through currently you will be worn down. Not only physically but mentally. They have to prep for top 25 teams each week while still going to class, etc. They have done an amazing job going 9-1 during this stretch. I dont care if they lose by 40 this weekend. This very young team has shown tons of resiliency.

I think everyone’s banged up at this point in the season, whether it’s Penn State or anyone else. I don’t really see us getting worn down in games like it seems as though you’re implying. We’ve stayed pretty healthy outside of a few cornerbacks and Noah Cain, but there isn’t a college football team who doesn’t have guys bumped and bruised after ten games.

We had two bye weeks. Not worn out, young team that has played some tough competition. Guess what, we have 1 loss by less than a TD and should have won given some crap calls. Not pretty wins but still wins. This BS about eye test or how you won is ridiculous. If you won the game, who cares.

We also have more quality depth than in recent years . Should help be fresh as possible for a late season game , but tOSU not lacking for depth either.

We are in a better place than 99 other teams out there.

1982 and we had the hardest schedule in history to win the national championship. 1986 we beat the number 1 team and the number 2 team at Alabama. Didn’t hear any whining then.

Our rotation has been great and we have been in big games until the end. Ohio state has not. Can there starters play 4 quarters?

The team is old and infirm.

I think the original question is essentially "why do we now appear sluggish on the field?" Or "Why wasn't the Dline dominant against Indiana?" Or "Why do other teams have wide open WRs and we do not?" Are we tired? Are we not as good as we thought? Do we have scheme issues where other teams have done a good job scouting us?

I’m proud of what they’ve accomplished as well.

but I’d prefer them not lose, especially if by 40.
