Graduated HS in 2016. Shirted 2017 at Virginia. Transferred to Pitt and sat for 2018 (lost the year of eligibility due to ACC transfer rules). Yesterday was granted a 6th year by the NCAA, which gives him 4 years of remaining eligibility.

Guessing this is to restore his lost year of eligibility -- NCAA choosing to override the ACC transfer rule. Good for him, but so much for the NCAA rulebook.

Anyway, thought this was more than a little interesting.

At this point the NCAA might as well just change the rule and give everyone 6 years to compete their 4 years of eligibility.

In this case, more likely the NCAA is sending a message to the conferences, to make the Suriano Exception permanent.

Other cases, who knows. NCAA not exactly known as a pillar of consistency.
