PDIII to iowa?

OK, so who wants to go on the record first on whether PDIII makes it incident and injury free for 7 months and walks out in an Iowa singlet in Cleveland?
If PDIII can refrain from doing something to get Tom Brands fired, that will already be a good achievement. Anything else is gravy.

Hmmm would Saint Tom be willing to grant PDIII the double secret Montell Marion "permanent suspension" treatment or are we talking about a true one and done-type deal?

That's a sucker's bet. Eveeything he says on Twitter (or RTs from his father) is a potential incident, only takes one offended person to escalate. Wrestlers get injured. And neither of those necessarily precludes him from competing at nationals.

If Brands is desperate enough to bring him on, he may be willing to overlook tweets. My bet is if he hasn't been arrested and is academically eligible, Brands will start him. And that feel good article about Marinelli and how they want to change their room will be forgotten.

Ha! ... buckle up.

...... oh ... that invisible pull you feel is the Earth's magnetic poles currently flip-flopping from HR defending TnT over PD3 but continuing to hammer "Carl" over Andrew Long, Thomas Haines, Bubba Jenkins, Chance Marsteller, et al ..

I think I actually love this move, but hear me out, as to why. Let me set this up for you.

It's Sunday, February 18th. Roughly 3:30PM. Iowa is close to mopping the rest of the dual up, in Ames. They started the dual at 197, and those damn, scrappy 'Clones put up a fight, plus snuck a couple away. Basically, it's a lock for Iowa to win, but IA St still has a pinner's chance. Last match comes up, and nobody is warming up for Iowa. The crowd is confused. Everyone also notices Terry Brands isn't on the bench. The 174lb match actually saw St. John and Brands at each other's throats, and Terry got yanked. The poor schlub for Iowa State is thinking they might have to forfeit for whatever reason, and has almost an elated look on his face, when suddenly... The lights go out...

Turns out Terry went to the control panel of the Hilton Coliseum. Piped in, via aux cord, is Terry's phone. You hear a faint, "doooooo do-do do-doo, doooooo do-do do-doo" and fans don't know what to think. Suddenly, it's audible... Enter Sandman by Metallica. A spotlight shines on something moving in the crowd... It's... It's P D F'N 3, with a blunt in his mouth and an ice cold Budweiser clenched in his fist, making his way towards the mat. By this point, the entire crowd is chanting along with the song:
"Say your prayers, little one
Don't forget, my son
To include everyone

Tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
Till the Sandman he comes"

He stops near an IA State fan, blows smoke in their face, and proceeds. Just before reaching the table to check in, he ashes out the blunt on table, and with one hand, cracks the Bud open and chugs it, using his other hand to flick off Ames in its entirety, staring directly at Dresser and the Gang.

He pins his opponent off a flashy, 50-50 position toss in the first period. Hawkeye faithful screaming, "PD3! PD3!" and he walks off, arms wide open as if to say, "What? Ya'll didn't want me here, anyways, right?" Boo's from the Clone fans and garbage being thrown at him. Hawks win the dual, which Clones finally thought they might have a shot at, and PD3 gets his re-introduction to collegiate wrestling.

Whew! You're telling me none of you want this? I might actually drive to Ames to watch this dual.

PDIII is good for us. the next 7 months your just waiting on pins and needles for the implosion. if it doesnt come we will be rooting like heck for him to take moore out. either way we win, especially the wrestling boards.

Reminder that it's not a done deal yet. It's merely him yet again trolling the internet.

Here is a more recent tweet:

If im the admin, I say to him and TnT you have from now till jan to do X, Y, Z if that happens you can then and only then enroll. till then you are on your own.

TnT/PD3 get the wink and nod they need, but if he implodes in between now and then they are arms length away.

PS- i hope he gets into midlands

Just a casual observer for this show...doubt he'll ever see the inside of CHA as a Hawkeye Wrestler. Still, part of me wishes him success, through some combination of counseling, meds, whatever. Too self-destructive at times, and too often we've seen that behavior not end well.

Well, college wrestling is treated to either that or . . . just this:

I hear you, but I'm not sure I will ever be able to bring myself to pull for him in a match over someone who has clearly committed more effort, discipline, and dedication to the sport and his team. I'm still a wrestling fan, first. That said, I hope like heck PSU is never in a situation where it needs a win from PDIII.

It is not even getting through the wrestling season. When the season is done and any leverage the coach has is gone, PDIII will be PDIII. Long's situation was the same thing- the increased freedom. And, PDIII has shown he doesn't need freedoms to screw up.

This makes sense. It also makes you wonder how the PDIII Tweets making it seem like a done deal are playing with the admin.

On a scale of 0 to PD2, these are about a 2 and the admin probably are going ...whew... at least its not revenge porn.

I just want to say that I really want to see this kid eligible to wrestle this year, don't care who for. The entertainment factor will be through the roof.
Also, Revenge Porn Pat has a better ring to it than PDIII. Hoping he changes his twitter handle.

With Suriano officially gone and McKenna strongly rumored to tOSU, if PD3 doesn't go to Iowa we may be looking at an 0 for 3 summer on the big lingering question front.

I guess 1 for 4 if you throw in Cael's contract but I didn't consider that a question.

I don't consider PDIII a miss- I love the future threads him as a Hawk will generate. IF he really makes it to Iowa to compete, I have faith in Bo to repeat his freestyle results...

I really hope that it will be 1 for 3. PD2 on HR will provide hours of entertainment.

I probably wasn't clear--I'm rooting to see him wrestle for Iowa too. And yes, my reasons are also lurid. I just want to rubberneck the twenty-car pileup as we drive by.

After that epic thread on themat where dad was talking about Jr's personal endowments, his nickname has got be Johnny Wadd for the upcoming season.

Iowa apparently has a special scholarship for blustering bad-boys who can bring embarrassment and occasional clownish levity to the sport. Now that Gilman is gone, Downey is vying for that position. Iowa has a long line of predecessors—others can (and arguably should) speculate as to the pre-Gilman "role models" here. Rumor has it you become a contender for the dis/honor by getting drunk on moonshine and wrestling the Brands brothers in a barn stall filled with fresh horse manure.

Comparing PD3 to Gilman? Really?

You jumped the shark with that one.

Why is Iowa even interested in PDIII? They aren't a contender this year and this guy has nothing but trouble stamped all over him. What's the upside here. They finish 5th? Let him go MMA. That's what he is.

Desperation. You only make this move if you are desperate. Especially when you consider that you not only get him, but you get his dad.

Grandma is the person I want to meet. I think she is a real pARty!

Maybe Tom and Terry can make him change for the better. They are great mentors and leaders. Life is a strange journey sometimes as most of us can attest. But i would have to imagine his leash will be shorter than Mejia's commitment time. It will be a miracle of sorts if PD3 makes it to next March. Only time will tell!

If PDlll finds his way to the Hawkeye lineup how are the guys fighting for that spot going to react to being blindsided by a train wreck?? And I imagine a number of their team mates who watch those guys busting their butts and doing things right might not be happy.

I look at all the negatives and I can't see this happening.

Somehow I don't see Cael being afforded the same kind of latitude you're giving TnT here.
