PDIII to iowa?

I have no doubt Downey can present well and impress whoever he needs to impress to get what he immediately wants. I get the sense that he's actually pretty smart. But I also think there's a 101% chance that he embarrasses the next program he joins, no matter which school ultimately bears that burden. And I say that being someone who typically holds the opinion that people overreact to supposed "distractions." Downey kind of takes the concept of distraction to the next level.

If T&T sign on for this ride, my question would be, do they not fully grasp how Downey is going to act? or do they in fact realize who Downey is and they think they can change him?

Sadly, I agree. At some level, I root for every kid that wrestles, regardless of team, as young men are being developed...and that has a bigger picture benefit. Your comment about embarrassing a program is mild compared to my thoughts...

He's 25? What clock deferrals happened?
Good question. JR World Team in 2012, so that's surely 1 year that caused the clock to not start. Nothing found for 2013 or 2014. 2015 Junior College Champion. Then 2 years of college. He was at the OTC for like 3 years, wasn't he? Doesn't explain it, though.

Maybe he graduated high school at 19.

If a wrestler decides to make a unoffical or free visit can a school refuse it? Just wondering..Maybe TnT just let him talk and tell him thanks but sorry no way u come here.
I can not believe it will happen time will lets us know.

Graduate 19. Clock automatic at 20. Get a Jr. World deferral. Clock restart at 21. Jr College one year add two NCAA makes him 24 entering this year with a year and a redshirt togo. Instead he's 25 so would only have 1 year to compete.

Maybe he's getting more deferrals because his tweets clearly show he's on a "mission"....of some kind... (face palm)

was just curious, so from a google search, (and I sure could have missed some places in between):

2009 MD High School State Champion (sophomore)
2010 MD High School State Champion (junior)
2011 did not wrestle in HS (denied petition to wrestle at Oviedo, FL)
2011 USA Wrestling Junior Nationals (Fargo), Champion
2011 NHSCA Senior Nationals, Champion
(signed LOI Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, OR)
2012 Junior World Championships, Silver Medal
2012 FILA Junior World Championships, Silver Medal
2012 OTC Colorado Springs
2013 OTC Colorado Springs
2014 Nebraska Injured, then dismissed prior to start of season
2015 Iowa Central Community College, NJCAA 1st
2016 Iowa State, 5th at NCAA's
2017 Iowa State, injuries, dismissed 02/17

I have 100% doubt he can do that....unless the person he's speaking to has been living with Patrick Star under the sea....and hasn't seen twitter.

Thanks for the timeline:
2012 his clock didn't start with the community college, It starts in 2013 then stops with the OTC. 2014 first year of actual clock. There are 4 eligible years shown from 2014....for which one can be considered a redshirt and he has one year left.

Unless the NCAA grants a 6th year based on injury caused no competition in 2014 AND 2017, he has this year to wrestle. Since these are granted on a case by case basis.....who at the NCAA in their right mind would provide a 6th year of competition to this knucklehead? He needs to learn to be a functioning member of society and move on. A 6th year grant would be a slap in the face to those who have shown reason to benefit from a 6th year like James English, and a further slap to those who probably could have benefitted but didn't get the grant of eligibility.

I don't know which would be more satisfying and interesting. Nick wrestling for us next year or PD3 wrestling for Iowa.

If the NCAA gives Downey a 6th year, they should go ahead and give Aaron Anspach what would've been his national title.

I'm for this for the chance that he can help derail the Kollin Moore train.

Needs to seriously work on his conditioning to keep up with Moore, though
Nope.....not remotely worth that. Kicked off 2 D1 teams.....followed by a continued stream of tweets showing a lack of humility and understanding what it takes to be a man. He doesn't belong in this sport.

I'm pretty sure he never enrolled at Clackamas. Not that I was paying attention to his career back then. I did some googling after he was dismissed from ISU just out of curiosity. I remember finding several stories about him planning to attend Clackamas but none about him actually enrolling or wrestling there.

And when he won the Juco title with Iowa Central he was listed as a red shirt freshman. I assume the RS year was the one he spent at Nebraska, which would have been when his clock started.

PD2 on fire on TheMat. Hall of Fame board material right there.

I think I'm not far off when I said PD2 is the type of dad to take his son to a brothel so he can lose his virginity
... at age 12.

That thread was worth it just for PD2's claim that PD3 is engaged to the girl in the revenge porn, and not for his GENIUS. (Side note, is that anything like being a JEDI in 2 positions?) First, WTF, dad's bragging about junior's junk? Second, she went to the police to stop him, and he proposed to her? Third, she went to the police to stop him, and she said yes? Fourth, PD2 is bragging about his kid (supposedly) being engaged to someone who went to the police about junior?

Fifth, I think I could use one after reading that.

EDIT: you're not the only one to notice:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to Iowa ... put PD2 on HR ... PLEASE !!!!

Wow...that girl needs help. That relationship has to be a real $hitshow.

I did get a chance to see that before the thread got taken down, and I'll say this . . . as sour as LemonPie can be (and frustrating to some here), he certainly brought some Grade-A material in trolling PDII last night. I'm not proud of it, but I'm still chuckling at one of his comments. Lines crossed, stomped on, and wiped out in that thread.

Im stating the obvious here, but if he goes to the Hawks, I can only see it ending in 2 ways.
-TnT get through to PD3 and he has a successful 2nd half of the season.
-PD3 slowly veers off track that turns into quite the wreck with PD2 throwing gas on the fire.
I'm kinda rooting for the later of the 2 just for the entertainment it will bring to the forums.;)

Slightly different take on this, though similar:

1. I don't think TnT or anyone else can "get through" to PD3, at least not as long as PD2 is in the picture. Maybe if he trained under Karelin in Siberia, but that would be much more Siberia than Karelin.

2. I do think he's capable of behaving himself (relatively speaking) for short periods of time. The question is how long is that? One semester, probably. One year, maybe, maybe not. Bring him back to HWC afterward, tick tick tick ...

3. He seems to get in the most trouble when he has the most free time. If he were to stay healthy ... wait, wasn't it Iowa fans who coined the term McRib?

Side note: we win either way. If he implodes, get your popcorn. If he goes 197, he can beat Moore. If he goes 184, let's set up a GoFundMe to get PD2 and Greg Martin sitting next to each other at B10s and NCAAs.

Sounds like PD3 to Iowa is gonna happen as long as he gets thru admissions.

Who wants to decipher his transcripts from a dozen high schools, JCs & colleges ??

Might need another GoFundMe, this one for Iowa Admissions.

OK, so who wants to go on the record first on whether PDIII makes it incident and injury free for 7 months and walks out in an Iowa singlet in Cleveland?
