Michigan State and Ohio State alums - how does it feel to be destroyed by the media? Ohio State alums, this is only just the beginning. You will be systematically destroyed in the national media over the next few weeks as the conspiracy likely widens to include others. I have absolutely no sympathy for MSU or OSU alumni after experiencing all the garbage they threw our direction with Sandusky.
Read DiSabatos record that I linked you to. There is more than I posted here. No facts on your part. After you have read through that and can discuss it, tell me you believe him and that you would welcome him to your house, and if you had a business you would hire him.

Personally, I don't want to see MSU or tOSU 'burnt to the ground'. These are difficult cases and things are so different today than the '80s. Back then, we'd call someone weird and keep the kids away from him but pedophilia wasn't really considered a thing. It should have been, but wasn't. As we now see, it is WAY TOO common.
Regardless of all of that, PSU people are just pissed there is a massive double standard in how the press, the NCAA and B1G handled PSU and what is happening at MSU/tOSU. Moreover, those tOSU/MSU a-holes that were so righteous in 2011 are so quiet today. Paterno's reputation will never be cleansed and he was one of the greatest humanitarians in sports. Its just a massive shame and I will never forgive those that did this to PSU in the press, the NCAA and/or the B1G.

Just for clarity, the athletic facilities at that time (Larkins Hall) were not limited to athletes only. The building was a combined use building for students, faculty, and athletes. I didn't use the building itself much when I was in grad school but did use the tennis courts on a regular basis--I never used the showers there, though, as each grad dorm room had its own private bathroom and shower. Things were a lot more open back in the day--students (including myself, once or twice) used to play pickup football in the stadium if it wasn't being used (as it was an astroturf surface, you could do that) and it was common for students to "run the steps" to exercise.
Rec Hall was pretty similar back in the day--I recall shooting hoops with my brother there a few times. Heck there was a time--and not that long ago--when you didn't even need an ID.
It's only in recent years that athletic facilities have become Taj Mahal's....

I could never understand the irrational & blind hatred about the PSU football program from another University's fan base - I'm just not wired that way. But OSU fans never waited for any "facts". They just led the charge in burning down the 814.
That includes your man Ed Ray, who was at OSU while this entire Strauss thing went on. He and Lou Anna K. Simon stood at that microphone in 2012 and blasted PSU about a "cover up" that never happened.
Ed Ray NEVER read the Freeh report. Ed Ray NEVER read the Consent Decree. I doubt LAKS did either.
Meanwhile, BOTH of these leaders who repped the NCAA & Big Ten had SERIAL SEXUAL MOLESTERS ON THEIR CAMPUS.
SERIAL SEX OFFENDERS THAT TARGETED STUDENT ATHLETES in NCAA sanctioned sports on the campus of their respective Big Ten institutions.

Do you want these schools to be damaged beyond repair like PSU or do you want people to understand that these things have happened and understanding how good people may have been duped?
My point is, first, yes other school's fanbases were a-holes. Got it and check. But second, what do we want moving forward? I would suggest, rather than being cheeky, sarcastic and bitter that we adopt a more level tone. I think our messaging should follow Jim Clemente's message.

This simply comes down to “F*ck THE ohio state university and their culture of putting winning above human decency. They knew. They all knew.”
My time was late 1970s-early 1980s, but it didn't change much at tOSU until the big building program under Andy Geiger when a large number of new athletic facilities were built (and that's still going on). Most of the minor sports got their own facilities--and many of those are off of the main campus across the river on what is essentially an athletics facility campus surrounding Value City Arena.
The big cultural shift in this, of course, is the "Me Too" movement. Much of it is long overdue--but there's still the tendency to judge the past on the basis of today's mores. Some of this is political, too--not just a right/left thing (though some of that is there) but the simple fact that the prominence in politics of Mr. Jordan makes this news under any circumstance. I'm sure there were other coaches in the program during this time--whose names you are not hearing.
As for me, I'll wait and see. I'm not fond of the current media frenzies that convict in the media first and then look at the facts later. We hated that when it happened to us. I'll reserve judgment until we know all of the facts.
Thanks...to me, the big change was the realization of "date rape" in 1991. At that point, the he said/she said power moved to the accuser/victim and away from the defendant. Then, the institutional understanding of the catholic church scandal in the 2002 range. But, as you suggest, physical facilities then needed to change. Now, 15 to 20 years later, these things are considered common but things were different in 1990.
I'd like an apology from the wretched OSU fan base. But I won't get it. I'm a nobody and I'm simply venting my spleen here, as I appreciate you guys allowing me to do so.

Thanks Wendy. i think that is fair but I am not sure who speaks for the tOSU "fanbase". We see the challenges of herding those cats as you will still get regular posters on this board who still support Freeh and are anti-paterno posters.
I would suggest that we hammer the B1G and get them to answer why the different treatment for PSU, tOSU and Sparty. Perhaps someone in a position of authority will mutter something about being naive, it being a learning process, and that they got the complexities of the PSU situation WRONG.
I hate the B1G. I hate the NCAA. But recognize that the chip on my shoulder needs to go away because it isn't helping anyone today in 2018. I think CJF has the tone 100% correct (respect for the past, respect for paterno, but with a view to the future).
Let the investigation be completed and the findings shared with the public. What does damning the victims before the investigation is completed do for anyone.
I don't know if we even need to care about other fan bases or even the general public. I sensed and saw something was wrong with PSU and its leadership long before Sandusky. We let the suited criminals in. When Sandusky happened they did what was in their best interest. The problem isn't with other fan bases or even the general public. The real issue is our own leadership.

I think you are missing the point. None of PSUs accusers were credible either... the facts don’t support the “football culture coverup” narrative in any way, shape, or form. McQuearys background and behavior and inconsistency make him highly questionable, Fina has been hauled d in front of disciplinary review for his conduct, Freehs track record speaks for itself. Yet no one outside of PSU, then or now, ever said “hey wait a minute”. So it is pretty hard for any of us to feel like saying “hey wait a minute” even if it is the right thing to do.
I’ll make a deal w you ... I will tell all my PSU friends to wait for the OSU facts to come out, if you will tell your OSU friends that the facts regarding Sandusky don’t support the narrative and Paterno and the other PSU leaders were railroaded. Deal?

However, I would like to hear from ED RAY about what he knew about what was going on over in OSU Men's athletics during his tenure at this Big Ten institution.
It is alleged that OSU FACULTY scampered over to the Men's showers at 3:30 daily to soap up.
ED RAY was on Faculty at OSU from 1971 to 2003.
ED RAY was OSU Exec Pres & Provost for those last 6 years. This means ED RAY knew damned well what went on at OHIO STATE.
ED RAY never read the Freeh Report, nor did he read the Consent Decree.
ED RAY dropped the hammer on PSU over a "cover up" that never happened.
ED RAY did this while he had a serial molester of student/athletes on his campus.

Shawn seems to have a fair amount of credibility. 150 people have been interviewed. I want to hear what they say. In the meantime, anyone who will take the time to read the facts about DiSabato can confirm that he is a lowlife liar.
Interesting to me that after posting link to DiSabatos losing lawsuit record and history of claiming to be owed large amounts of money on the basis of oral contracts that so far not one person, who has potentially checked his record, has commented on it. Seems like many here have a lynch mob mentality and are too lazy to check the facts.
