Just checked this out. On the map I was looking for they have Ft Duquesne where Mckeesport is located..You will find lots of errors on these old maps

I just got a chill when I typed in my address for 1968. There was my neighborhood and I swear I saw a bunch of dots behind my house. My friends and I playing whiffle ball? I think I might cry.

I think this is from USGS. Historically they have done fly overs in heavily populated areas. So NE US has a lot of aerials.

I believe you are right, the aerials are from the USGS. They have an extensive collection of abandoned mine maps that I use as well as the historic aerials.
