Awful situation throughout out the mid atlantic. Spent all day making sure the basement didnt accumulate any water and then over night had another 1.5 inches to wake up with muddy floors. BWI airport has had over 15 inches of rain in the past 10 days. 4.07 yesterday, 4.79 on Saturday and 3.35 last tuesday.

Looking like the last bridge over the Swatty in Hummelstown will be closing here soon. Only way to get from north into Hershey will be via 83. It's a pretty big mess.

Just read that the Montour Preserve dam is opening its 36" drainage line a bit. That's sure to cause (more) downstream flooding.

I bought a house in March and while there was never any evidence of water getting in the basement I was still pretty nervous, as you can imagine, with this being the first major chance of flooding happening since I've been in the house. I'm happy to say there is no water in my basement.

Yea its been a mess here in the Balto area. lots of flooding on the Jones Falls.

We've gotten a ton of rain here in Penns Valley. Penns creek is over 9ft , 7ft above fishing level, lol. Elk and Pine Creeks both flow through my yard and Elk sounds like a freight train. Pine is over the road and we have storms coming, ouch

Really scary. My cousin's have a house downstream in Port Deposit. They left for Scotland last night, but they went to their place on Monday and cleared everything out including my cousin's vintage Porsche.
They are going to reach the point where they have to release the dams upstream and then what.

Luckily for them it is a second home and also on stilts.

Yea that was one of the things I thought when I heard about the flooding in PA.
Port Deposit has been fairly lucky the past few years. They were hit really hard in '96 because of massive snow and ice in PA but the most recent I can remember was 2011 and that was pretty bad.

I own property along Chillisauque Creek. Fortunately the opposite bank is much lower than my side and absorbs all the flooding. If anyone has pics of Montour county I would appreciate it

My sister is in Hummelstown. Said hersheypark is closed and probably will be through Friday due to all the impassible roads.

My poor hometown of Montoursville and up the Sock out 87. It's been brutal the last 6-8 years. Last year was Hillsgrove out of nowhere. Now this.

Mt. Nittany - Do you live in this area? I feel like I've asked you this before, but all the photos and places you listed are all in my neck of the woods. Grew up in Laporte, went to Sullivan and just moved back a few months ago... Are you a "Mid-Penn" or Susquehanna Valley Resident, or were you?

Newswatch 16 has been having a field day with the coverage of this flood. I haven't been over yet to check it out, but I think Hillsgrove was spared this time. A few years ago, they were hit very hard.

Luckily there was plenty of warning with this one.. When it rains for three days straight, you know it's coming. That Hillsgrove flooding happened overnight.

I'd assume the rebuild in that area a few years ago saved them this time.

The Broadstreet Bridge in Montoursville has been under construction all summer. It was completely covered in tarps, (I guess they were painting it?) It made the bridge 2x bulkier. I can't imagine that helped given the Loyalsock zips right under it, and it is always close to being taken out when this sort of thing happens.

The "Ole Green Bridge" has never failed us. The RR bridge was replaced a few years ago and the eagles nest on it. Hillsgrove was a freak accident, but the road up the Hogland branch was washed out in a number of areas. The 4 new bridges there all survived. My brother lives at the very Top of Hoag.

Everything ok up around Dunwoody and the Yasui cabin/rock venue?
