OT: Ever notice that a ton of young ladies say they are “part Cherokee”

I must have had 100 young lasses tell me this over the last 20 years. It’s ALWAYS “part Cherokee.” Never “Lakota,” “Kickapoo,” “Huron,” “Pequot,” “Sioux,” “Erie,” “Chumash”, etc. Is it some kinda exotic fantasy line of bullshit devoid of creativity or historical knowledge of other potential tribes to choose? Anyone else notice this same thing?
My dentist, Bernie, rides a black Cherokee with one hell of a Hemi.

What was the line from Austin Powers... “do you have a little English in you”? Woman replies no, Powers says “would you like some”?

I am white and have dated a few women of color in my day. It’s funny but yes, many of them have told me that.

Friend of mine of Italian ancestory was in charge of security at an Indian reservation casino in Arizona for a number of years. At one point the management called a high echelon meeting at which time they stated that the employment rate at the casino had to be something like 85% Native American and 15% non native which was going to result in a lot of people losing their jobs unless they could prove that they had Indian blood of any percentage running through their veins. As they were going around the table questioning the heritage of each member and what tribe they were affiliated with they finally got to my friend and asked him if he had any Indian blood in his DNA and he responded "Yes, I do." They then asked him what tribe and he responded "Awopaho tribe." They continued on to the next two people and suddenly stopped when they realized there was no "Awopaho" tribe.

It's the 'go to' phrase when someone with naturally curly hair suddenly has remarkably straight hair.

"Got a wife in Chino, babe And one in Cherokee"

Is that from the original version or the slow dirge like one when they rearranged it? I've snored thru my share of the slow one

When Phil does it now he adds a verse GD never sang. Adds a little more interest to it.

Fun fact: There's an Indian tribe in Maine from which one can buy a tribal card indicating Indian heritage. Read: Native American.

Never heard of the Awopaho tribe, but I have hear of the Dagota Sioux.

A ton of young ladies/100 young lasses = 20 pounds per woman. Seems low. Sounds like you've had more than 5 tons (10 tons?) tell you that.

Many of those beliefs by those women come from family stories of a great grandmother being half Native American. That story was more palatable than the truth which was one of their ancestors was raped by some racist white guy.

What exactly are you hoping for?
