The Cubbies are blazing hot right now.....24-6.

They swept the Nationals in the four game series over the weekend. They walked Harper 13 times in the series.

In the 13 inning win yesterday, Harper was walked 6 times (tying a MLB record).....was walked 3 times intentionally, twice with runners on 1st and 2nd. He also was hit by a pitch, so was on base 7 times without an official at bat (setting a MLB record).

Along with the White Sox doing so good, these are strange days in Chicagoland!

It would seem the "walk Harper" strategy worked out just fine for them. The Cubs sweep of the Nats put the Mets in first place, so thanks for that. :)

Now the Mets need to figure out how to get Colon some pinch hit at bats to extend that streak of HRs.

Some of the Cubs' numbers are off the charts.

They are #1 in MLB in team hitting and #1 in MLB in team pitching.
Their run differential through 30 games is one of the all-time best.

30 games is possibly a small sample size to expect this dominance to continue all year, but they have been amazing. With so many talented young players, a good manager, and great fan support, they may just ride this wave to a special season.

Curses. Goats. Black cats. Bartman. They're STILL the Cubs.

Ha...yeah good point.

Though, if you live long enough, you see things like the 1969 Mets, the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team, the 1983 NC State Cardiac Pack, 2016 Leicester City winning the Premier League as a 5000 to 1 shot, etc. Gotta love sports; there are occasional moments of drama and great achievements that keep you coming back, despite all the messes off the playing field.

Baseball as we all know is a marathon. As high as the Cubs are now, one or two little injuries can change a season in a hurry. The way things are today, You stay on an even keel above .500 the first few months and hope your hot streak comes in late August-September when everybody else fades, then you control your own destiny. The exceptions to this are the 1986 Mets, 1998 Yankees and the 2001 Mariners

Yep, 30 games isn't even 20% in.....but the Cubs had a major season-ending injury in the first game or two of the season and they haven't missed a beat yet. But they are The Cubbies.....and no team can continue to play as well as they've played.

The real story in Chicago so far are the over-achieving White Sox. Guess getting rid of the child day care operation has changed the focus of the players!

Getting rid of the overpriced stiff in charge of the day care was helpful as well.
