wow, powerful film. no spoilers, but Marvel hits another home run.

Really looking forward to it. But I might give it a weekend or 2 for the crowds to die down.
So are you still liking Black Lightening? I think its the best "comic" book show on TV right now.
I think it works even without the meta human aspect. Really like Cress Williams and James Remar, think they are doing an excellent job.

loving Black Lightning. Cress is really nailing it. I like how dark the show is going with the violence and villains

saw it last night. they indeed hit a hr. may be the best marvel movie i've seen. funny, good plot line, decent acting and a ton of action. and the stan lee cameo was priceless.

amazing visuals and cinematography
pulsating soundtrack
some very unexpected moments of humor (the vine meme shout out floored me)
Stan Lee, casino cad LOL

I'll also say if you think Michonne is bad on The Walking Dead, Danai Gurira is 100 times more bad ass as Okoye

passes $400MM domestic, $700MM global after a strong second weekend

looking to challenge Marvel's The Avengers for highest grossing MCU film . . .

Saw it this weekend and really liked it. My only gripe is it still had a little too much CGI for me and at times I thought it (the CGI) was poorly done. But for the action and actors I loved it. Thought Boseman was excellent but my favorite character was M'Baku, Winston Duke was awesome. I thought he stole the scenes he was in.

I think Marvel maybe played it safe with the budget and CGI is a place you can tighten up if need be. Can you imagine if Wesley Snipes got his Black Panther movie off the ground back in the day? Some things happen for a reason.

here's a good analysis of the "CGI problem" with the MCU

screen rant

As far as the increasing use of green screen is concerned, the MCU films simply take place in a lot of locations where you just can’t shoot a movie (like in space, or an entirely fictional location like Wakanda and Asgard). There’s a less obvious reason why Marvel so often chooses to shoot pivotal scenes on a studio soundstage rather than on-location, however: to avoid spoilers being leaked to the public.

I figured thats the case for a lot of "on location" scenes.
Its the same "issue" I had with the Spiderman reboot and the CGI stuff.

Yeah, but not having seen Black Panther yet, it must stand out. The CGI in Avengers, and especially GOTG is really top notch. I think a return visit to Wakanda will show a much improved version after this film's success.

As an aside, what do you all think of the Venom trailer??? As a Hardy fan, I like it - it's brooding, and he's bulked up a bit. Also sporting his best 'New Yawker' accent which is fun. As a Venom fan, I would be less than thrilled - just not much here...knowing it's a 'teaser trailer', I'm good with that.

I think the issue is . . . the CGI for the actual city of Wakanda is phenomenal. Some of the CGI for the action sequences is seamless and flawless. But when it is mediocre, it really stands out. didn't ruin the movie for me.

I love HArdy and want to see Venom, but not sure how this film fits into the Marvel universe??

Thats it exactly. Wakanda was simply flat out amazing as were some of the action sequences but the mine attack, ughhh.
