Not every mustache is a “porn stache”. That’s a very specific type of mustache. Many of the young guys look better with facial hair...not every athlete wants to look like they’re 12 years old.
Always makes me feel good to see Penn State players so well-spoken on camera.
Sanders is talented and hungry (Franklin said that Sanders’ career probably hasn’t gone the way he thought it would to this point, but compared the situation to when he was in Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers sat behind Favre for a few years), Mark Allen and Jonathan Thomas are steady veterans, and Trace mentioned that Journey Brown is coming along and Slade has been impressive for a freshman. Trace said that the running backs pride themselves on being the hardest workers on the team.
Yeah, haven't heard the term used much, but I took it to be about tackling technique. The staff is very hands-on in teaching and development, and giving immediate feedback to the players.
The show was like a commercial for the football program.
The BTN people raved about the well organized practice and drills, and the quality of the teaching of techniques by the staff. Coach Franklin has obviously put together a staff with a quality group of men.
I was also impressed by the BTN description of all the quality athletes they saw at every position. DiNardo made it clear he thought there is still room for improvement on the Oline, but even he said it was clear from looking at the players that we now had some offensive tackle (tall and big guys) to go with all the interior linemen types he had seen in visits since the sanctions. I had to laugh when the BTN crew said we had 13 linebackers who all looked tall and athletic.
Mustipher and Dotson got mention as frosh who impressed. I am not surprised by Dotson at all. His film was fantastic, he reminded me of Derrick Williams with his playmaking ability. The BTN crew all smiled when they mentioned Micah Parsons.
I grew a full beard over the summer before I went to grad school, as I did not wish to be mistaken for one of the students (which I could have been, easily). The current compromise with Mrs KG is that I have a mustache (that's been in effect for quite a few years now).
