Okay, list a song in music, covered in a different genre, but still rocks.........

Pretty much anything off of the album Saturday Morning Cartoons Greatest Hits, a 90's remake of cartoon songs. Here's an example from the album, Liz Phair performing the Tra La La song because, well, she's Liz Phair.

The Ramones covering Spiderman

Sublime performing Hong Kong Phooey

Drew Barrymore enjoying the album.

I'm not sure you would call it a different genre but easily my favorite cover. Willy Waldman kills it.

As far as GC covering songs - he covered every song because he couldn't read/write music.

This song was a hit for Linda (another Jimmy Webb song). I'd say this is a good cover. No GC guitar needed. Just some really good singin'.

Another good one - especially for the Scots.

In keeping with the OP's request of different genre, I present to you what is a very intense and emotional industrial version (think NIN) of Stand By Me, by Ki:Theory. It appeared on a recent episode of Fear The Walking Dead.

  • Just a little pin prick
  • Easy Like Sunday Morning
  • Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
  • Meet the new boss, same as the old boss
  • Never be your beast of burden
  • Nobody knows what its like to be the bad man, behind blue eyes
  • I call that a bargain, best I ever had
  • You say that's all right, hold tight
Well I don't even know if I'm doin' this right
    Well all right, hold tight
We can stay out all day or we can run around all night
    Well all night, all night
Well it's time to go home
And I ain't even done with the night
  • Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
  • Blackbird singing in the dead of night. Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
  • And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make
  • There are places I remember all my life, though some have changed. Some forever, not for better, some have gone and some remain
  • will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64?
  • 'Cause Tramps Like Us; Baby We Were Born to Run
  • I'm bringin sexy back
  • In your eyes
    The light the heat
    In your eyes
    I am complete
    In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
    In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches

I don't understand this list in context of the theme of the thread.

Dread Zeppelin. Heartbreaker... At The End Of Lonely Street.

Led Zepplin with a reggae tilt sung by an Elvis impersonator.
