We struggled to run the ball or protect McSorley. On the other side, very rarely could pressure Barrett and they were much better running the ball.

People will bitch about playcalling, but most running and passing plays looked like jail breaks. Much more recruiting and development needs to happen along both LOS.

Congrats to Ohio State. This was the first time we scored more than 14 points in Columbus since we joined the Big Ten. Think about that.

Franklin has us on an upward trajectory. We'll be in that position again.

Keep your heads up.

Play calling sucked though - didn’t it? We were in 2nd and long all night. Didn’t have to be that way.

Mostly agree. Do think that the coaches needed to find a way to counter the pressure. And playing for a FG from 1st and goal at the 7 up 35-27 was a mistake IMHO. And it's a mistake we've seen Franklin make repeatedly (Michigan 2014, Maryland 2014, Illinois 2014, Northwestern 2015, Rose Bowl). You can't say how aggressive you are and then turtle up at the most crucial moments of the game. That's a weakness of his IMHO.

Only example of poor play calling was in the red zone on the drive that netted a FG. McSorley with a lead blocker and no zone fake could have scored possibly. After that, Buckeyes DL dominated.

Yep. We ran one RB screen ... and it worked.

Franklin doesn't call the plays.

Would you move from better team to more talented team that won? I still like our kids and Chemistry bettter. Bad series after the fumble. Crawled into a shell.

Great to see you back Judge!! I agree.

We were pretty much dead once we lost our best offensive lineman and two of our defensive ends went down to injury. Looked like a hammy with Miller, hopefully he's back to full strength for MSU. LOS, LOS, LOS. They have the best defensive line we've faced all year and the OL improved and we were a bit hampered without our D-Line stars. Good loss, if there ever is one.......it hurts really, really bad but it's all about how our guys respond.......especially the coaching staff!

We scored 38 points in Columbus. Our previous Big Ten high was 14.

Our defense was dragged up and down the field. That was a bigger issue than playcalling.

I don't disagree with you. Just thought when we needed to be aggressive on offense, we were the exact opposite.

Agree. Our big plays have served us well but we need to establish a time consuming run game. Better athletes along the OL will help by we also need to tweak the offensive scheme....need to run some plays with McSorley under center.

What playcalling is good when the OL is playing that poorly? What are the magic plays that work when you can't block anyone.

I thought part of the RPO was to take losses. Bottom line is trying to keep the defense honest with Barkley is and was a losing bet and has been since Indiana. Forget putting the decision in TM’s hands and give the D something to think about. Scoring 38 points means zero when OSU scores 39. That is a pretty uselsss metric for this performance.

Look, this was an elite tier game. We didn't quite measure up but we need to regroup and play out the rest of the season. All of those calling out the coaching staff miss the point. Total talent was in their favor and Meyer and Schiano specifically brought them back. They've got quite the trio.....Meyer, Schiano and Wilson. We need to lock down Moorhead with some extra $$$$ and rewind and play it back. Their 3 have a bit of experience and player advantage over our three but you don't tear it down and start over, especially since they were playing at home and it was very, very close. You re-rack and play it forward. Period!

Also, find Huff some extra$$$ he was the coach of the game on either side!!!!!!!

Eh, just not sure on Moorhead. Probably shouldn't say anything in the heat of battle but I'm watching arguably the greatest running back in PSU history get tackled for major losses over and over and over and seemingly nothing is done to change it. Maybe I'll just never fully warm up to the RPO, who knows. But man oh man, i just know that what we saw too many times today, major losses particularly on 1st down, was just a killer.

We snapped a ball with the game on the line...and 2 PSU players ran in to one another! And then... with 2nd and 14/15... we ran a guy up the middle behind an offensive line who could not block a group of first graders...WTH....

Yep. No doubt Barrett played great but he doesn’t get a chance unless his OL plays great. Which they did. Games are still won and list upfront. CJF will get us there. I’m sure of it.

Yeah, no. That is the kind of breathless nonsense that has no place in sports. Forgive me, but you obviously have never played an organized sport or if you did, you didn't make it in the game much because your passion outweighed your brain.

We had over 500 yards of offense the week before against the #1 defense in the country. I guess the coaching staff got dumb during the week.
