Off Season Workouts 2018

I recall high school fall camp two-a-days. I think it was two weeks. I remember having to keep my legs strait because, if I bent them at the knees, they'd cramp. But that was really one or two weeks and far, far less competitive.

During two-a-days my entire body ached so I earned to sleep on my back supporting no part of my body.

I know this will be taken wrong by some, so allow me to say - I am not offended!! My son steals the radio dial and puts Hip Hop on my XM while I'm in the truck.
Anyone surprised the media was permitted in while the music played?
Or, that with the media in the weight room the music of choice was what we heard?
If conspiracy theorists still prevail, that people are out to find fault with PS, listening to MF'n N-----! F U n-----! may be all those haters need.
Maybe it's my age.

"Miles Sanders has improved his leadership. He’s a stud. We have some really good RBs. He’s special. We feel good about what he brings us on and off the field. Saquon was a powerful presence. You couldn’t help but stepping back and watching. Miles didn’t hesitate to step in there. Mark Allen as well."

"Daesean left his legacy with Juwan. He’s a trained killer. Will Fries has done a great job. Danny Dalton has been phenomenal. John Petrishen has done well, he’s been dinged his whole career but has done well. Lamont Wade has done great. He’s like a piranha."

His form on a few of those reps almost was starting to go. Also, 315 on squat isn't really all that impressive for a football player. I was doing over 5 plates at that time and still go up to at least 405 in my workouts as a retiree. But I agree he looks healthy and is absolutely a critical piece to our D.

Bro you’re such a hardo

Frankly, I don’t give a crap if a cornerback isn’t squatting 495.

Maybe next you can tell us how you can out bench press our punter.

I think the media has heard those words before - likely even on the practice field.

If some media person wants to complain about foul language played in the weight room on twitter, they'll get a whole bunch of responses calling them a humorless old codger - and it'd be richly deserved.

Alright buddy. It wasn't about me. I was just pointing out that 315 isn't much for a D1 athlete. I don't care if you go a buck 80, you should be able to do 315. I'd think that most D1 athletes can squat at least twice their weight for sets.

And I'm not sleeping on our punter, they always list him as the workout warrior of the specialists. He is obviously an athlete. I think you picked on the wrong player with your smart ass retort.

Maybe next you can tell us why someone commenting on workouts in a thread about offseason workouts makes you so defensive?

C'mon, man. You crapped on one of our players while in the same post hyped your completely unverifiable workout abilities. You're a message board cliche. You shouldn't be shocked that people pushed back.

I said "315 on squat isn't really all that impressive for a football player". If that "crapped on" an athlete who is known for speed and smarts more than power then holy snowflake batman. Some of you have the skin of a single cell organism. I merely was commenting that he looked healthy but 315 is pretty common.

I couldn't care less but don't act like you didn't also say that his form was slipping on some of his reps. That's pretty typical verbiage for someone who is "crapping on" someone else's lifting accomplishments. That usually comes right before calling someone out for not squatting to depth.

No one made a single comment about how much he was squatting until your brought it up to say that it wasn't all that much really and his form wasn't good either. But no, you weren't dumping on the kid.

Anonymous message board tough guys criticizing the workout abilities of highly skilled, elite major college football players usually won't end well for the anonymous message board tough guy. Just a tip for you.

Ive seen a lot of pictures of yesterday's lifting session, anyone catch Stevens in any of them?

There were a handful of players that were not present. TS was one of them. I believe there was something like 8 or more people not there. I read it is possibly due to academic stuff (class or something)

The tweet from Donohue stated "Penn State CB John Reid looking strong" and then you commented
Oh, and Reid's knee looks mighty healthy I'd say

So while no body said the exact weight (do we really need to parse words?) there were certainly implications that it was a lot of weight. So again I merely said he looks healthy and that it was not really that much weight for a D1 football player (AND IT’S NOT, now watch Kevin Givens, that’s man-sized squats).

https://247sports.com/college/penn-...round-515-pounds-in-the-weight-room-115686512

And I did say he had a couple of reps that almost looked like his form was going. Did you watch? His strength coach probably will tell him the same. But I’ve been extremely complimentary of Reid. As I said, he’s hugely important to our D this year. He’s fast and smart and though I hadn’t stated it before, he’s the type of student athlete you want representing Penn St.

Why is their such a hissy fit about me saying 315 is not a lot for a D1 football player on squat? Is there some other reason that you guys are making this such an issue? The only comment that has had any value on this subtopic is OhioLion’s suggestion that the strength coach may still be holding John back some. That is valid although watching those reps, I get the impression that 315 and that many reps is probably what a healthy Reid does, which is fine, just not eye-popping like Givens.
