Crazy thing is. Even without Lee and Desanto we still have 10 legit AA contenders. And we may need something like that to win.

I think an argument can be made that there's a great chance that Penn State's big 4 all don't repeat as champs as well. I'd say RBY and maybe Brooks. A healthy and dialed in Eierman beats Lee, Amine can most definitely beat Brooks, and the way Kem is wrestling can major Starocci. I'm not saying Iowa is going to win it, but I wouldn't count them out. Plus Michigan will be tough in Detroit and will take points away from PSU.

They’re killin’ me Whitey! They’re killin’ me! I don’t know how @johnstownsteel lurks over there for so long

PITTSBURGH—#PINZBURGH was alive and well on Friday night at Fitzgerald Field House.

The No. 19 University of Pittsburgh wrestling program shocked No. 6 Arizona State, 24-19, as Pitt fans powered the Panthers to a wild victory on a memorable night of college wrestling in Pittsburgh....

#19 Pitt 24, #6 Arizona State 19
125: #4 Brandon Courtney (ASU) dec. #32 Gage Curry (Pitt), 10-4 (ASU leads, 3-0)
133: #4 Michael McGee (ASU) dec. #7 Micky Phillippi (Pitt), 5-3 (ASU leads, 6-0)
141: #22 Cole Matthews (Pitt) pins Julian Chlebove (ASU), 1:44 (Tied, 6-6)
149: #11 Kyle Parco (ASU) maj. dec. Dan Mancini (Pitt), 16-2 (ASU leads, 10-6)
157: #3 Jacori Teemer (ASU) dec. #21 Elijah Cleary (Pitt), 6-2 (ASU leads, 13-6)
165: #6 Anthony Valencia (ASU) dec. #13 Jake Wentzel (Pitt), 6-3 (ASU leads, 16-6)
174: James Lledo (Pitt) pins Zane Coleman (ASU), 2:31 (ASU leads, 16-12)
184: #31 Gregg Harvey (Pitt) stalling DQ over Josh Nummer (ASU), 6:44 (Pitt leads, 18-16)
197: #9 Nino Bonaccorsi (Pitt) pins Jake Ortiz (ASU), 2:26 (Pitt leads, 24-16)
NOTE: Arizona State assessed a team penalty point (Pitt leads, 24-15)
285: #3 Cohlton Schultz (ASU) maj. dec. Jake Slinger (Pitt), 18-5 (Pitt wins, 24-19)

Whoa -- Davison locking up a spladle on Cassioppi, and ref stops it for PD.

EDIT: And they award Davison a TD off it, but no backs. Brutal. Cass went on to win 7-3.
I need to see video from another angle. I was there and it looked like Cass wanted to tap out. Davison had time on his side and Cass was going over, but slowly. Couldn’t see any joints in danger or any choke (ironically).

That said, the Hawk wrestlers were great with the fans.

Problem: lost to Starocci with 2 good arms.

Solution: mummify one arm.

Micic will not be a finalist.
I said finalist contender. Micic is currently ranked #4 and is very skilled. While the odds may be against it, if he stays healthy, I think Micic getting to the finals would only be a mild surprise; certainly not a huge reach.

Until Micic shows us he's the same wrestler up at 141, I would only consider him an AA contender.
Barring injury, I would be VERY surprised if Micic didn't AA. I think AA is almost a sure thing if he stays healthy.

Pitt won four matches and scored 24 team points off those four wins. Three falls and a stall out. Wow.

Two years ago when these kids signed up to wrestle they never imagined Srs would be coming back for another year and they would be asked to take a double RS.

Maybe Schriever is willing to burn his RS even if it means just a few matches.
