Below are FLO's (specifically Nomad's) predictions (not rankings) for 157. It seems there is some low level chatter that Mark Hall could possibly redshirt this year. Not sure if that talk is based on anything or not. If it would happen, Nolf would possibly go to 165. If not, questions arise like can Nolf bonus any, some or all of the guys at 2-8 below?
  1. Jason Nolf, Penn State
  2. Hayden Hidlay, NC State
  3. Alec Pantaleo, Michigan
  4. Ryan Deakin, Northwestern
  5. Josh Shields, Arizona State
  6. Tyler Berger, Nebraska
  7. Kennedy Monday, North Carolina
  8. John Van Brill, Rutgers

Some key matchup dates this season at 157:

Nov. 18th: Ohio State at Arizona State (Hayes vs Shields)

Dec. 14th: Arizona State at Penn State (Shield vs Nolf)

Dec. 16th: Nebraska at NC State (Berger vs Hidlay)

Jan. 6th: Northwestern at Nebraska (Deakin vs Berger)

Jan. 20th: Nebraska at Penn State (Berger vs Nolf)

Feb. 1st: Michigan at Penn State (Pantaleo vs Nolf)

FLO's pre-season 157 rankings:
Rank Grade Name School Previous Rank

1 SR Jason Nolf Penn State 1
2 SO Hayden Hidlay NC State 2
3 JR Joshua Shields Arizona State 7
4 SR Alec Pantaleo Michigan 5
5 SR Tyler Berger Nebraska 3
6 JR Ke-Shawn Hayes Ohio State 9 (149)
7 SO Ryan Deakin Northwestern 10 (149)
8 SO Kennedy Monday North Carolina 11
9 SR John Van Brill Rutgers 10
10 SR Paul Fox Stanford 14
12 SR Steve Bleise Minnesota 17 (149)
11 JR Larry Early Old Dominion 19
13 JR Luke Weiland Army NR
14 JR Taleb Rahmani Pittsburgh NR
15 SO Justin Thomas Oklahoma NR
16 SR Gordon Wolf Lehigh NR
17 SO Kaleb Young Iowa NR
18 SR Tyler Marinelli Gardner-Webb NR
19 SO Hunter Willits Oregon State NR
20 SO Griffin Parriott Purdue NR

Nolf has previously beaten Hidlay (6-2), Pantaleio, Berger, Marinelli, and Fox. He was injured against Van Brill and so had to accept a default loss. His win over Pantaleo was only 6-4.

This will be Nolf's swan song season. I think he will be on a mission, more focused on putting guys away than ever, ending with the Hodge. He has an outside shot at 100% bonus. I think an 8 point Victory vs Pants and Hidlay which I see as his toughest bonus competition is definitely within the realm of possibility.

I also think his biggest competition for the Hodge is Spencer Lee over Bo up at 197. Lee's bonus % is going to be very high this year.

There will be a lot of dudes ducking Lee this year. I’d put big money on Heinselman having a friend’s wedding to attend because Lee will brutalize him like Nolf did to Jake Ryan.

I heard Tan Tom made special magic 8 balls for his wrestlers that give answers such as: wedding, bar mitzvah, quinceanera, christening, sock drawer re-org, time-share presentation, ... :)

Ha. Sock drawer reorganization! Now that is one excuse I've never heard. Isn't there another universe (according to possible world theory) where missing socks go?

A healthy Nolf can bonus all of those guys. I also think those guys will wrestle & not go into a shell. #2&3 I am willing to bet think they are capable of beating Nolf, so they will come to wrestle when they meet.

... forfeited into consolations ...
Good one!

Tan Tom is an innovator and does not just stay with only the tried and true. For example, he could have but did not simply stand pat with the previous state-of-the-art 8 Ball: long bus ride, flu, average refs, ... ;)

I don’t know why more wasn’t made of that move. Absolutely ludicrous
