Football Nicholas Singleton named Big Ten Freshman of the Year

And there could not be any better advertising to recruits than Singleton, Carter, and Allen being the top 3 choices for big 10 freshman of the year. Then you have Shelton starting at LT as a true freshman. Allar is groomed to lead in year 2. Dennis-Sutton is one of our sack leaders. Loane started a game while preserving his redshirt. Durant saw a ton of reps for a true freshmen DT. Evans saw a good bit of reps as a true freshman WR. The field was just littered with true freshmen for PSU.

Meanwhile at Ohio St and Michigan, true freshmen sit and wait their turn no matter how highly ranked. I think Michigan may have had one start by the end of the year.

Sadly their true freshman sit no matter how highly ranked because those playing before them are already studs and those before them are studs, and they win the big ten every year except for the years a Northwestern, Wisconsin or Iowa catch fire.

Don't know the numbers of true freshmen playing at Michigan and Ohio State, but Alabama and Georgia have had recent championship seasons making good use of true freshmen on the field.

I'm fine with the Nittany Lions playing true freshmen esp. when they are talented like this group.

Absolutely agree, especially when they are only staying 3 years.

Unless you are a running back, QB, or linebacker. Those are going to be difficult positions to recruit this year.

Well, maybe so. If we're talking about recruiting the Class of 2024 (the Class of 2023 is nearly complete), we're considering guys who will be true freshmen when Allar, Carter, Singleton, and Kaytron Allen are in their 3rd and possibly final year at PSU before going to the NFL.

Need to re-load quickly when we have potential early NFL draft choice type talent.

So true. And should be a great opportunity for a kid to play one year behind Allar and learn a lot.
