most likely it wont be Urbs, lets face it , the AD is on the wrong side of the balance sheet. Is Smith a scapegoat?
If Smith is gone and Meyer is retained, it is the most clear and unequivocal statement that Ohio St could make that football is more important than all else, more important than abuse, than student athlete well being and safety, than really anything.most likely it wont be Urbs, lets face it , the AD is on the wrong side of the balance sheet.
Smith is the escape goat.
Although looking at the big picture, Meyer is already such damaged goods that retaining him makes little sense beyond this season's results. Public perception is that he is a liar and an abuse enabler. Since Kevin Wilson (OC) and Greg Schiano (DC) both have too much baggage with scandals and abuse of players between them, adding a permanently damaged and untrustworthy Meyer is just the kiss of death. Who would want to play for that abusive, scandal-ridden, lying trifecta? All 3 of them have burned people time and time again and turned a blind eye to abuse. Only the most uninformed would even consider them at this point.
How could they trust anything he tells them? They've watched him lie through his teeth repeatedly.I think you're in for a rude awakening if you believe this to be true. Urban can get kids to the next level--that's the top priority for many (arguably most) top recruits
maybe he had recruits blow into his breathalyzer installed in his car?Per the report, Zach Smith's license was also suspended for 180 days.
That would --- seemingly --- make it tough for Zach Smith to roll up to the car rental desk at DFW and get a car.
That would also --- seemingly --- make it tough for Urban to play the "plausible deniability card" here.
If Urban didn't know about the DUI, Urban would theoretically still be sending Zach Smith out on a recruiting trips by himself. But if Zach Smith was being sent to DFW (Texas was his "recruiting area"), Zach would have a hard time renting a car. He'd basically have to tell Urban about his suspended license. One would think, right?
