125, we sent Lopez, and it was not unanimous, so it is out.
141 was forfeited, so everyone gets three
157 Not only was it unanimous for Nolf, but so far, it's looking like it the bonus picks were unanimous for falls, so instead of 2, everyone gets 3, on the assumption that if everyone thought Nolf would pin the starter, they assuredly would have picked him to pin the back-up's back-up.
165 unanimous, so everyone gets 2
285 unanimous, so everyone gets 2

This is unbelievable. It took until the last dual of the season, and it took a massive number scoring changes due to back-ups, but we have perfection. This dual was worth a maximum of 25 (-3 for 125, -1 for 165 and -1 for 285), and findthestrength somehow found the strength and got the only perfect dual score of the season. Congratulations!

And, lo and behold, look who is at the top of the 28 24s. Of course, it helps when you run the contest and your name appears first in the spreadsheet, but who's counting?

So, here are the Buffalo results, in all of their glory.

These are not final until I hear back from anyone on errors from the dual. However, I am very confident in the top two. After a long, grueling dual-meet season, one man stands alone at the top of the podium. One man can now call himself the 2019 KYPSW Dual Season Champion, a mantle to be worn with pride and to be shared with, well, probably only the 65 or so people that play KYPSW. But, a mantle to be worn, none-the-less.

And that man is none other than tikk10, otherwise known as Columbia University's wrestling photographer, and an all-around great guy.

Runner-up, coming tantalizingly close to tikk, just one lousy point away, CholleyVandine. And, rounding out the top 3, loyalandtrue2! I'm pretty sure he is also one of the Penn State Wrestling Club's leading membership salespeople, but don't quote me on that.

Continuing down the podium, we have PSUbluTX, Cali_Nittany and Psu9012, in 4-6, respectively. And, the last two guys. Hmm. I understand a certain special prosecutor is going to be available soon, and KYPSW may initiate a collusion investigation into HOCKEYGOD11 and RoarLions1.

Congrats to all!

First time doing this, was a blast! Can't wait for next year!
Don't forget, only the dual portion is over. Still two separate contest for B1G and NCAA, plus the overall season championship. Rules will be posted for B1G once we hear about allocations.

Woot!

I just want to say that you go to BWI to win KYPSW mantles. That's what we do. And that's what we're trained for.

Thanks for running this again, pawrestlersintn, please make sure my mantle is insured before you ship.
I can assure you that every prize ever awarded and shipped by KYPSW has been insured for its full value.

Congrats!

congrats to @tikk10 -- he just kept bringing it every dual match. kudos also to @CholleyVandine, who also set a furious pace. I believe he actually picked more winners than tikk, but didn't have as many bonus points (i.e., wasn't as accurate in picking the specific type of win). Great job by both of you, as well as @loyalandtrue2.

Description

The B1G Championships functions as a qualifier tournament for Nationals. The B1G will automatically qualify a certain number of wrestlers per weight class, based on their placing at the B1G Championships. The auto-qualifiers (AQs) will number as follows: 9 @ 125, 141, 157 and 165; 8 @ 133, 174 and 184; 7 @ 285; 6 @ 149; and 5 @ 197. In addition, there is a need to determine an extra place finish beyond the AQ at each weight to identify the wrestler that falls one place short of being an AQ, per one of the criteria needed to attain “Bronze Standard” for eligibility to obtain an “at-large” berth to Nationals. Long-story-short, the 9 AQ weights will have placement to 10th, the three 8 AQ weights will have placement to 9th and the three others will have placement to 8th.

What You Need To Do
For each of the 10 PSU wrestlers competing at the B1G Championships, predict his:
(1) Place Finish, per the placing categories listed below for each weight class; and
(2) Total Number of Bonus Points (to the nearest half-point) scored during the tournament EXCLUDING matches wrestled to determine 9th place through 14th place.

All predictions must be posted in this thread by 11:00 AM Eastern on Saturday, March 9th.

Placing Categories, By Weight Class

125: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or “DNP”

133: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, or “DNP”

141: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or “DNP”

149: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or “DNP”

157: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or “DNP”

165: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or “DNP”

174: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, or “DNP”

184: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, or “DNP”

197: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or “DNP”

285: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or “DNP”

*Note: As you can see, there is a minimum of 8 place finishes for each weight class. We essentially predict the placing based on the number of AQs +1 for 133, 141, 157, 174 and 184. Beyond that, we predict “DNP” for “does not place”.

Scoring

For each PSU wrestler, you will be awarded “Placement Points” based on your prediction for where the wrestler places in the tournament. You will also be awarded “Bonus Points” based on your predicted number of bonus points scored by the wrestler (excluding extra matches wrestled for 9th-14th place). The scoring structure for Placement Points and Bonus Points are listed below.

Placement Points
30 points for predicting a wrestler's place finish exactly (includes the “DNP” category)
25 points for a prediction being off by 1 place
20 points for a prediction being off by 2 places
15 points for a prediction being off by 3 places
10 points for a prediction being off by 4 places
0 points for a prediction being off by 5 or more places
Note: Any "DNP" finish is considered 1 place away from the final placement position for the weight.

Bonus Points
4 points awarded for predicting a wrestler's bonus point total exactly (to the nearest half-point)
3 points awarded for a prediction that is off by 0.5 points
2 points awarded for a prediction that is off by 1.0 points
1 points awarded for a prediction that is off by 1.5 points
0 points awarded for a prediction that is off by 2.0 or more points
Note: Major Decision = 1.0 bonus points; Tech Fall = 1.5 bonus points; Fall, Medical Forfeit, Injury Default, and Disqualification = 2.0 bonus points.

The maximum attainable score under this system is 340 points. Tiebreaker criteria are (1) most placement points, (2) most “30-point” placement predictions, (3) most “25-point” placement predictions, (4) most “20-point” placement predictions, (5) most “15-point” placement predictions, (6) most “10 point” placement predictions, and (7) most FOS posts.

Example Predictions/Outcomes/Scoring

Example 1. I predict Wrestler A to finish 5th and score 1.5 bonus points. Wrestler A actually places 1st and scores 2.0 bonus points. I receive 10 Placement Points (1st – 5th = -4 = 10 pts) and 3 Bonus Points (2.0 – 1.5 = 0.5 = 3 pts) for a total of 13 points for my Wrestler A weight class prediction.

Example 2. I predict Wrestler B to finish 9th in a 9 AQ weight class and score 2.0 bonus points. Wrestler B actually places 4th and scores 4.0 bonus points. I receive 0 Placement Points (4th – 9th = -5 = 0 pts) and 0 Bonus Points (4.0 – 2.0 = 2.0 = 0 pts) for a total of 0 points for my Wrestler B weight class prediction.

Example 3. I predict Wrestler C to finish “DNP” and score 0.0 bonus points in a weight class with 8 AQ. Wrestler C actually finishes 7th and scores 1.0 bonus points. I receive 20 Placement Points (7th – DNP = 2 = 20 pts) and 2 Bonus Points (1.0 – 0.0 = 1.0 = 2 pts) for a total of 22 points for my Wrestler C weight class prediction.

Example 4. I predict Wrestler D to place 9th and score 1.5 bonus points. Wrestler D actually withdraws after his first match, does not place in the top 10, and scores 0.0 bonus points. I receive 20 Placement Points (DNP – 9th = 2 = 20 pts) and 1 Bonus Point (0.0 – 1.5 = -1.5 = 1 pt) for a total of 21 points for my Wrestler D weight class prediction.

I will post a link to B1G pre-seeds when they are announced and actual seeds and brackets when they become available.

Again, all predictions must be posted in this thread by 11:00 AM Eastern on Saturday, March 9th.

Although these scores will be compiled with the Dual Season and Nationals scores to crown an overall season champion, all are welcome to join this particular event to be crowned B1G champion. Good luck!
