James Franklin post-MSU game press conference

Actually, his comment "...ran the football well..." while looking down at aggregate statistics was a bit of a head-scratcher. What game was he watching? Sure, there were a couple of long runs to skew the statistics, but one of the main reasons we lost had to do with being unable to control the clock with a reliable ground game. The defense played too much, leading to yet another 4th quarter breakdown. Does he not see this, or is he just resigned that nothing can be done about it until the offseason?

We are not going to have consistent wins against good teams if we are to rely on completing bombs way down field. I didn't like that reliance in the Moorhead strategy when he was with PSU, and I still don't. That is feast or famine football. If you're going to be a pass-first team, the bread and butter plays need to be quick throws in the short to intermediate high-percentage range.
