How effective will Allar really be?

No it wasn't. You are looking at the worst o line in penn state history this year.
well, we'll just have to disagree. PSU beat two top 20 teams this year. That wasn't going to happen in Barkley's soph and jr years.

I guess if we could only find another bad QB that set a ton of passing records at PSU then most people would be satisfied with that. People forget we were a one dimensional passing offense with a lousy OL when Hack was here. It looked like we were setting up a screen play the way the DL was always in the QB's face just about every other time the kid dropped back.
Amazed that people still try and make excuses for Hack. He was bad here. He was a 2nd round draft pick that never started a game in the NFL, which is basically unheard of. He couldn't even start in the Alliance of American Football League. He was not good by any measure as a QB.

he set several records here with the worst possible team around him due to sanctions. In fact, he selected PSU as a five star player even knowing that. Then, he set all kinds of records. His OL was fired minutes after the final gun (Donovan). His performance after college has nothing to do with his performance at PSU

I think he's a Penn State fan but also a case study in how obsessive hatred can warp a person's judgment and turn every post into a repetitive diatribe on the same subject.

It's to the point where the guy is even rooting for us to lose...against Michigan no less. Sad.

On the other hand, it takes an unusual quality of character to keep saying the same thing over and over...even as it's unanimously rebutted, rejected, and ridiculed.
If we get rid of Franklin or he leaves for another job, he'll blame Franklin for the next 4 years because these were his recruits.

Telling kids they can compete for playing time is something every coach says. I really cannot believe people think that PSU doesn't tell kids the same GD thing.
Yeah, I agree 100%. Fleming was injured his freshman year (last year) at OSU and had off season surgery on his shoulder and this year has been battling a hamstring injury earlier this year. The last couple of games has been the first time in his first two seasons that he's been somewhat injury free.

In fact, there's an article about him today on Eleven Warriors and the kid sounds like he's really looking forward to the rest of his time at OSU. He does acknowledge, however, that the injuries have been very frustrating and not easy to deal with. He has a decent shot at starting next year. He'll be competing with Egbuka and Harrison for the 2 starting spots along side Smith-Njigba. If he can just stay healthy, he'll get the playing time.

Not sure where some are coming up with the "OSU lying to him" stuff. Kind of ridiculous

Injuries sometimes forces frosh to play too soon as far as coaches are concerned. Most high end recruits get the same speech from every coach...you will have the opportunity to earn PT or a starting job. It will depend on how quickly you adjust and pick things up. Now most OL and DL....it's a tougher hill to climb due to the physical nature of their positions, but it still happens.

PSU is recruiting 2 highly rated QB's...but on this site the one that is rated higher is assumed to be the starter already somehow. No matter what Bolden, Morelli, and other highly touted QB's have done in the past, the higher rated kids cannot miss. Again, not unique to PSU either as every school has lesser rated kids outplay highly recruited kids. The idea that he was lied to was a sour grapes BS post.

Please ask Dabo how easy it is to predict D1 QB play, even against the dregs of the P5. How's that consensus #1 NFL pick out of Oklahoma doing this season? None of us have any idea how a kid will pan out. Morelli was "can't miss." Hack was can't miss and now so is Allar. McGloin wasn't good enough in HS for a schollie and wound up in the NFL.
We are all dumber for having read this thread.
Well put. All of these HS bluebloods right now have only potential to make it bigtime in college - especially at QB which is vastly different on the college level. I think we've all seen too many "can't miss" prospects just disappear once they get to college. Now I'm not saying this will happen to Allar at all, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised-shocked to see Pribula become the next great PSU QB down the road. This kind of stuff happens every year at every school

I personally think Hack was mentally broken by our bad OL. He was getting punished game after game. He took a beating. It led to some bad mechanics and not reading defenses.

So...did Hack have a superior o line or a poor o line? I'm having trouble with your facts Mr I love Psu troll:rolleyes:
Yet Hack did well his freshman year under tutelage of O'Brien, who I am sure made the OL work for him

with an Oline he inherited from Joe, O'B was limited in scholarships and left the cupboard so bare we were forced to convert 2 and 3 star Dline to Oline and we haven't recovered yet. Had some misses and a career ending medical issue for Nana. You get 20 - 22 recruits a year for QB, RB, WR, TE, Oline, Dline, LB, DB, Specialists. It takes time to recover. See USC after the Reggie Bush fiasco.
