I was just thinking about how many all-time great wrestlers have suffered one of their rare losses to a Penn State wrestler. Logan Stieber ended his career with only three losses, with one coming to Zain. Zain v. Stieber Isaiah Martinez also ended his career with only three losses, with his first loss coming to Jason Nolf v. Martinez and his other two losses coming to Cenzo, 2017 Final 2018 Final keeping Isaiah from from not only being a 4-timer but an undefeated 4-timer like Cael. And finally, Gable Steveson will most likely end his college career with only two losses, with both coming to Anthony Cassar, B1G Final NCAA semi-final also preventing Gable from having an undefeated college career. Cael did his job in going 159-0 and his wrestlers sure have done their job making sure his record stays untouched!

Iowa fans used to say Sorensen is a 3 timer without Zain ... I actually kind of agreed (it's a good narrative for Zain anyways) but that kind of went out the window when he lost to Ronnie Perry then Matt Kolodzik in 2018.

Also another example, Kemerer has more losses to Nittany Lions than non Lions in his career (Nolf x3, Mark, Carter x2) His other losses are to Micah and Palacio (by pin) and then if you want to count the injury default to Berger in 2018 It's technically a loss)

If you don't count the Berger loss, he has 3x more losses to PSU guys than not.

This happened at the NCAA tournament to defending champ Kendrick Maple:

Gable will have another loss to the banded blue singlet. It’s coming.

You post some good stuff with stats and the like. Was curious if you posted on another board before coming here. Just find it interesting that you just joined a year ago. I mean, not as interesting as Iowa only having one dual the weekend leading up to their PSU match but interesting nonetheless…

:) I’m never going to live that down. I followed this forum and read what you all posted for years, but never registered until recently. I don’t do social media but I like wrestling enough, and Penn State Wrestling especially, to finally give this a try. I’m super jealous of Roar’s statistical database; thinking about building my own.

That’s my go-to bracket. There were a few more D1 wrestlers in it too.

Ha, not really a statistical database. Just happen to have spreadsheets with database attributes and fact sheets all over the place, and know where each and every one is. The statistics part is another story. It's a gift and a curse being wired this way.
