A couple of years ago Dave Joyner hired Amanda Lehotak to be the softball coach.

She did not appear to have much of a background and we had a poor year last year in her first season, going 14-35.

However, the softball team swept Michigan State in a DH today at East Lansing to get to 17-15.

Checking the roster, I think all of the position players are underclassmen.

The softball team, similar to the baseball team, is forced to play the approximate first 1/3 of the season away because of the NE weather.

I have no idea if they can make any real noise in the BIG, but, to date, a nice improvement from last year.

If you look at Lehotak's coaching record prior to Penn State, her teams at Jacksonville U and UTSA improved year to year. Softball is probably a middle-of-the-Conference team this year, but recruiting is going well and the future looks promising. Rob Cooper needs some time, too, but baseball is improving. Joyner made some strong coaching hires.
