Taxing the other guy has always been the most popular tax program.

It stupid that this is happening again. Just goes to show you how wimpy the GOP has been in communicating with the public. There's no excuse for the left to be going back to this dry well. The lure of power is so strong, it turns well meaning people into mass murderers.

Don't you think the people who earned the money and grew it into a fortune are smarter and care more about how it is utilized than a bunch of politicians who are simply motivated by whatever gets them reelected?

If we can't treat our citizens equally under the law with something so fundamental as our personal property, what meaning do those words even have? The Bill of Rights put limits on what government can do and also what we can do to each other. Minorities have rights and those rights can't be trampled on by the majority.

    Taxes should never be progressive.

Let's just keep giving them permanent tax cuts because they need it.

Speaking of personal property, do you support Trump’s plan to seize private property to build his wall?

Care to explain in detail, how the economy is "rigged"?

Or are you just jealous and envious that you aren't wealthy?

Are not "THE RICH" part of ALL Americans?

Care to explain to us how billionaires "poked the lion"? Would love to hear it.

Is that really a surprise? 99% against 1%.

Try a poll asking if people approve of raising taxes on the top 50%. 50% against 50%. I think you csn pretty much guarantee that 50%+ would not approve.

Why do cons let their selfishness hurt the society they are a part of? You want to benefit from living in the greatest country in the world, then you need to pay the taxes to keep it the greatest country in the world. He who benefits the most must pay the most.

I have an idea. Let's do a new poll of just those people with student loans and ask if they are in favor of loan forgiveness, or better yet since tis is a Penn State board let's poll this board how many are in favor of reducing football scholarships for all schools except PSU.
    Meaningless

Please explain how conservative selfishness hurt society they are part of. I'll wait.

Those who EARN the most pay the most. The top 1% pay nearly 40% of income taxes when taking home roughly 20% of all income. Explain that.

So you refuse to cite how? Is this more liberal, "just because I said so"?

I'll wait. Maybe while you are at it, you can explain how THE RICH "poked the bear" as @NJPSU suggested.

They already contribute the most. It is the value they bring to society that makes this the greatest country in the world. And they pay more than their fair share.

What's actually selfish? Wanting to keep what one has earned, or, wanting to confiscate what one has not earned?

Yeah isn't that the whole point? I mean here is a guy who made billions selling coffee and he gets to "run for president" just because he is rich. If that doesn't prove that the system is stacked to favor the rich I don't know what does.

responding to a comment about the economy being rigged.

You have to buy off/influence government policy to rig the economy.

If you decided to run for president would you get interviewed by all the major networks?

Typical right wing deceptive bullshit. When you look a the % of adjusted gross income, the top 1% pay around 20%.

This is one of the reasons why I support Trump. He is not a crony and has no ties to either party. In fact, supported Obama and was well liked by prominent black leaders for many, many years. (OK, he's a creep...check).

If you listened to him last night, he abandoned many of the hard right causes like the wars and ongoing involvement. He is stronger on focusing on the US than any president in my lifetime (Syria, AF, Iraq, NATO, etc.). He's the first and only non-partisan president in our lifetimes.

You sound resentful that he became a billionaire creating demand for coffee. Anyone can run for president... especially if you have a couple really good ideas that resonate with the American people.

its is a big country with thousands of people that want to run for president. somehow, you've got to break through that.

all over the country, kids are getting law degrees and becoming prosecutors. Or, they are taking visible positions in the media. Or, are just getting rich from other endeavors (rap, news, movies). You've gotta have money, a network, friends, and media to get you on TV. AOC is the perfect example...or Obama...and Trump.

He is the embodiment of the problem itself.

You are taking what he says literally? I thought we weren't supposed to do that?

We are fighting more wars now than ever before. Even if Trump is serious about some of the anti war stuff he spouts, he has now clue how to get any of it done. I mean you don't hire John Bolton because you want to wind down wars......

Trump pulled out of Syria and re-organized our relationship with NATO. those are solid actions. He voiced his support for a negotiated agreement in AF and Iraq, including negotiating with the Taliban. Those are all affronts to the GOP platform prior to Trump.

And, again, at one point, Trump was the darling of the left (a NY billionaire).

I would agree in principle, in the context that government officials shouldn't have so much influence to sell. You can't buy what's not for sale. But what makes corporate money bad as compared with any other money?

What we need is separation of business and state. Government has interfered with business to the point that what we call capitalism really isn't any more. It's crony capitalism. Government today is much like the mafia of old.

Federal income tax accounts for less that 1/2 of all fed taxes collected. When you look at their share of adjusted gross income, that 40% is cut in half. This also ignores that the bottom 90% pay most of the payroll taxes.

You are showing a graph that confirms exactly what I said. The top 1% take home roughly 20% of income (20.58% - the blue bar), and pay almost 40% of taxes (39.48% - the "orange" bar).

    Thank you.

Somehow a bartender got traction in NYC.... Now she's a national icon. If I apply your logic, I would ask if being hot and stupid are qualifications for being president. Or might you suggest in this case that she has some really good ideas?

BTW, just picked up a couple cups of coffee from Starbucks. Can't believe that guy created so much demand for over priced coffee. There were 6 employees hustling behind the counter.... We need more individuals like Schultz........

    Trump pulled out of Syria

We still have troops in Syria. We just had some US soldier killed there.

A boy walks past the site of a suicide attack targeting US-led coalition forces in the flashpoint northern Syrian city of Manbij which killed four US servicemen on Jan. 17, 2019.
