The Pittsburgh Penguins may soon be under new ownership, as WSJ and Sportico report that Fenway Sports Group has reached an agreement to purchase a controlling stake in the Pittsburgh Penguins. They have been open about wanting to add to their portfolio and develop new businesses.

FSG currently owns Liverpool FC, Boston Red Sox, and Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing.

The Pittsburgh Penguins since 1999 have been owned by former National Hockey League star Mario Lemieux and investor Ron Burkle.
