Delonte West takes brutal beating

That is surreal to watch. The man has had mental health issues in the past. There are people trying to locate him and get him into treatment. Hopefully they find him and get him the help he needs.

The responses to the woman who posted the video are brutal...she said she isn't the one who recorded it, but the woman who did record it called the police before taking the video...

Comments about posting the video to garner attention for herself may be legitimate. Otherwise, comments about the lack of intervention of other passers-by notwithstanding, people really want a woman to step in to break up the fight, thereby putting herself in danger?

...yet another example of why to ignore comments on social media.

At what point do you stop and try to help someone that is being beaten in front of you? When the man is having his head kicked in is where I get out, because it has moved from a fight to attempted murder.

I get you don't know the situation but as a human being when do you try and help? Not everyone can help and I’m ok with that if you don't feel like you can safely intervene. Calling the cops is the appropriate response for everyone, but if you are able to get out and help you do it.

That is a tough video to watch.

It's one thing to want to help, but another to be legitimately concerned that you could be injured or even killed (does the guy have a gun?) trying to help

Other than the F bombs, I did not understand one word he said. My god, this was awful to watch

Apparently Jameer Nelson and some other athletes are going to Maryland to find him. I just wonder how much success they can have in coaxing him into a treatment facility. Jameer isn't a spouse or family member so I'm not really sure what he can do.

he had an event, toward the end of his playing days, where he was pulled over on his motorcycle with a rifle inside a guitar case. Also, heavy rumors he was sleeping with LaBron's mom during the playoffs before he left Cleveland to go to Miami. LaBron, it was said, was not upset about West but that everyone on the team and front office knew about it and didn't tell him. It was one of the reasons why he didn't stay.

I totally agree with you. However, I’d like to think at some point you say “i gotta help this guy”. If you don't, i cant disagree with anyone that takes that stance. As someone that served in a life saving service with the Coast Guard and now works in law enforcement, I hope I would jump in and help at a certain point. Im no hero or superman, but i’m a decent person and does not want to sit by and watch someone be stomped to death.

Does anyone know why he was getting beat up. Street justice? Owes money to drug dealers? Gambling debts?

Witnesses say Delonte attacked the other guy with a broken bottle and started the fight. Then proceeded to get his ass kicked after attempting to murder the other guy. You internet heroes still going to go save him?

Yes, because he is a human being. If he did attack someone first he is wrong for having done so. Do we allow someone to be beaten to death for that is the question.

Hahahah, awesome
A very strong rumor here is that delonte was having an affair with LeBron's mom. In fact, I know people that know several players who speak of it as complete fact. LeBron found out during a playoff against the Celtics when LeBron just quit in the middle of the series. LIke him or hate him, he never quits.

I don't know the details of this case but if someone attacks you with a deadly weapon, you are well within your rights to beat the living crap out of him. it is called self defense. Now, if the guy has been beat up and lying there and you come back five minutes later and crush his skull that is a different story. Anything less than that, good luck proving which blow ended the guys life.

I should also point out that West is mentally ill, as many homeless and drug addicted are.

I do remember that rumor, sad situation all around.

It doesn't involve police so LeBron and his hypocri-posse aren't interested.
I, personally, don't think that is fair. I hate the politicization of sports. There is a reason why Tom tried to keep politics off this sports board (it seems they've given up) and it is the same reason why I was against Kap kneeling during the anthem. James is doing what he thinks is right. He's done a ton of good in Akron with his "IPromiss" school in Akron. And he's been a great rule model as he's been a good citizen (one wife, one baby mama, never in trouble). I know he gets the calls and the NBA promotes him to death but that isn't his fault. What is he supposed to do, call a foul on himself?

He could have not tried to shut down the NBA after defending a criminal's actions.

I understand....but submit his heart was in the right place. I get it. If you don't think black people are treated differently you are not paying attention. Now, I also think that in many cases people are their own worst enemies. IMHO:
  1. Cops need to show up trying to calm the situation, not incite it
  2. Prosecutors, Judges, and probation officers also need reform
  3. Black leadership needs to step up and assert cultural standards the way other minorities have so we don't have Cardi B WAP and Baby Momas.
  4. National awareness to have citizens assist across the board.

I totally agree with this. When I think of LeBron's path I can't help but think of his childhood buddy Maurice Clarett. Two wildly hyped Ohio prep stars. Think about that fork in the road and how they each took a different path. I can't help but wonder if some folks "pick" on LeBron because they were so wrong. They thought he would bust and not only did he live up to the hype but he far exceeded it with zero police blotter and criminal nonsense. I would hate to think people are that jealous and petty but who knows.
I will acknowledge that there are athletes and celebrities out there that are bad people but LBJ isn't one of them.

LBJ is an all time great and he is trying to make the world a better place along the way with his actions. We need more LBJ's not less in this world. I find it laughable people criticize him for providing an intelligent discourse but listen to political loud mouths on tv that all they are providing is political porn to line their own pockets and all they do is try to divide the country further and further into Red State/ Blue State divisions. IMHO.

One big difference is LeBron could, and did, opt to get paid right out of HS. Clarett could not and when he tried to sue he lost. If he’s able to go pro - or at least make money in college, who knows?

I also haven’t seen him give any money to support Prostate Cancer awareness...I’ll just determine that because this isn’t a primary cause of his, that he must be a bad person and wants us to all die of Prostate cancer.

Yo, dummy. There is a difference between not speaking out against prostrate cancer and defending China and it‘s human rights abuses.

Does yours?? What do you actually care about China and Hong Kong other than a talking point to attempt to downplay someone who doesn't agree with your politics?

Dude, you’re a know nothing clown and always have been. Crawl back under your rock now, this is a grown-up discussion.

Him saying he’s afraid to walk down the street because he’s a black man in America and he’s afraid of the police is NOT intelligent discourse.

That's all you can say, because I am right. Keep spewing off talk that you wouldn't dare say to my face.
